and now for something completely different!!
no realtracks or realdrums just the chord track, with a few added passing notes, and me of course.

Can't get you out of my mind

I can still smell your perfume as it lingers throughout the house
and if I smell it on a lady in the street I often cry
again sometimes I hear you calling me (Alyn Alyn)
calling me late at night
but if I answer it by calling
I become awake

Again sometimes I see you walking about 20 yards in front of me
and as I run, try to catch you up
you disappear
Again sometimes I feel you're with me when I'm lying half asleep
but if I reach out to touch you
you've not been there, no you've not been there

it must be love for me to imagine
even after all this time
I still love you and miss you madly
even tho I know you're not mine
cannot get you cannot get you out of my mind

Style was originally GITARP16.STY (12-String Guitar -16th Arps)
Style MIDI Instruments are : Chord track
Choirs are Mtron Mellotron and Choirs from Crisis, Titanic and other free soundfonts.
With me on maracas, toms, crash and egg thanks to FL Studio.
The original version did have instruments but sounded "the same as any other song" so I experimented and WOW...perfect!

I recorded my voice with an old Peavey i microphone, a real cheapo dynamic cardoid mic, as an experiment after I recently re-arranged my "studio". Well actually I was being lazy as my Rode NT2 was still in its flightcase and during the tidy up I had re-discovered this old battered beauty and thought "Why not??" The mic has to be over 15 years old and had seen sterling service as a paper-weight and door stop over the years!!

Alyn,

That WAS different. I like that you are doing "different" - it's being an interesting journey for us (your listeners)...

again sometimes I hear you calling me (Alyn Alyn) << loved that!

Keep 'em coming!

Alyn,

I'm with Floyd... That WAS different, but in a cool way! cool
And isn't it great when you can utilize a paper-weight that effectively! grin

Hi Alyn,

Sounds like you are enjoying an experimental musical journey.

I admit it's not my cup of tea and leave it at that.

But that's why we have more than vanilla chocolate and strawberry at the ice cream shoppe. <grin>

Thanks. On listening to it for the first time after I had "finished" it I thought it sounded like ghostly, so thanks for the description of haunting lyrics.

I like to be different, that's been my problem throughout my musical life!! Haven't got any more like this tho' smile

Yeh I was proud of that line and I needed sommething to fill that gap and, as I said to Scott, the "Alyn Alyn" bit sounded ghostly on 1st play back.

Greg
Thanks a lot. The mic is back to being a paper weight now!!

Rob
This song was just a little detour from my "normal" songs as I don't think I will revisit that style too soon. But who knows??
You can call my style of writing anything but conventional grin

Josie Sundance,
I don't expect everybody to like all my songs but thanks for listening. I like pistachio ice cream *yum*

Dean
Thanks mate, I never ever want to sound like someone else although my influences sometimes show. The chord changes I use are thanks in no small part to my Dad's jazz pianist cousin. He once showed me a way to add interest and I never forgot that day.

Danny
Thanks for listening, glad it held your attention for a short while smile

Well it seemed a good idea when I started but when finished I thought "ooo err" but the original fingerpickin' idea made the song sound so boring! Thanks for listening.

I said it was interesting, not "too" long Alyn. It held my attention throughout.

Yeah... I'm going to second Josie on this one....

We need different stuff ... Imagine music without Frank Zappa or Captain Beefhart.... I can't.

Herb,

Thanks for commenting, as I said to Josie, I can't expect everyone to like all my songs.
When I took out all the instruments I didn't think the song was so weird as I soon got used to the sparse arrangement and the imagery it made, in my mind.

I have posted the original version for comparison smile

Thanks

Alyn, Yes it is different. It is like a dreamscape, kind of a subconscious tune laying just below the surface. It's good to get away from the three chord structured commercial arrangements once in a while. Keep pushing the boundaries. I found this very interesting. Tom

Hi Alyn,

I listened to both versions, and there are parts to both that I like better than the other. I like the simplicity of the guitar, and I like the "etherial" feel to this one. Either way, as has been stated, this one is different. And I think it's good to stretch our boundaries every now and then.
