I DON'T CARE IF THE MOON COMES OUT TONIGHT she always loved walking along that carolina shore a big ol' yellow moon lighting our way now, i've got no use for sand in my toes or salt air anymore since she left i can't stand the sound of breaking waves i don't care if the moon comes out tonight it makes no difference if the stars refuse to dance across the sky why waste a romantic night if she's not by my side i don't care if the moon comes out tonight i don't need the flowers they sell on the boardwalk so i pass 'em by why hasn't the radio stopped playing our song it seems to me the wind in the trees keep echoing goodbye and that lover's sunset won't let me forget she's gone i don't care if the moon comes out tonight it makes no difference if the stars refuse to dance across the sky why waste a romantic night if she's not by my side i don't care if the moon comes out tonight i don't care if the moon comes out tonight The band.... Floyd, Janice,
Holy cow! I absolutely love this melody, it's a beautiful, captivating song. The vocals, the guitar, the tracks, the mix, I don't know how they could be improved upon.
Perfection.

Hey Floyd,
Pretty song, melody, lyrics, instruments choices. I especially like your vocal on this one Floyd. In the first verse those soft vocal nuances are beautiful emotional and intimate. Then the slightly harder edge in the chorus. The only thing I'd have done differently is backed off using so much stacked harmony in the second verse saving it for the chorus but that's just me.
Well done.
I like it.
Josie

Even Bob knows there are a lot of girls in Carolina. Several things struck me with this one. The steel is the best use, placement, and editing I have heard yet. That must have taken some time to get right. This is one of your best vocals to date. The writing is terrific. You are the master of the near rhyme. Only one perfect rhyme in the entire song. That didn't matter a bit. Really nice melody. Great chorus and harmonies. Nice choice of instrumentation. This all adds up to my new favorite floyd song. Going back in for my 6th listen. Really well done. BRAVO. Tom

Good song. You do excellent work lyrically and musically on this. The song has a comfortable, relaxed feel to it that makes it easy to listen to.

Floyd,
You sure can paint a picture with words. That song was beautiful and I would love to find a Janice-type lady in my home town to add that special touch to my songs. As Tommy says that pedal steel was perfectly placed, it added so much to the song, almost a 3rd voice in the arrangement.
And yet again, on my walk to town today, I will have to time myself to the song's tempo as the chorus is stuck in my mind after only one listen. :>)
Alyn
ps please don't do a waltz cos then I will look really silly sashaying down the main street!

Couldn't say it better. I enjoy the harmonies all over. Try to get rid of that little crackle at the end. Guenter

Richard - thanks for the listen. glad you enjoyed it. Scott - that's mighty nice of you to say. Perfection... I don't know... there was that crackle at the end that Guenter mentioned (although, I did take care of that, I think). Thanks for all those kind words... Josie - good to see you dropping by! Appreciate all the nice things you said. I guess I could have toned down the harmonies in the 2nd verse some - it seemed like the thing to do at the time.. I do appreciate the suggestion - I'll try it out...

Cool tune.... anything about Carolina, the beach and a girl.....
I figured out finally, with this song, who's singing you remind me of.
Your style is very similar to Eddy Raven from the old country days....this song could fit well into his style of song and would possibly have been hit material for him back in the day. Of course, your sound is slightly different in tone..... but the same power filled singing style.
Good song

Hi Floyd and Janice
I am busy catching up on some quality listening after being out of action for a bit.
Loved everything about this. The smooth and catchy chorus is so beautiful to listen to. The harmony is awesome.
Great great work.

Tom - thanks for all those very nice comments. It is especially nice to know that you approve of the steel - being a steel player yourself - so good to know...
Charlie - thanks for taking this for a spin - and for your comments...
Alyn - been missing you, man! thanks for all of that... you've got me thinking...I may have to write "The Gibson Sashay Waltz"... and we'll need video of the walk to town...

Hi Floyd sorry I'm a little late to the party - we are in the middle of a BAnk Holiday Long Weekend here in the UK. Only got a Wifi signal this afternoon in a local bar so was able to listen. This has got to be one of the best Floyd songs - and there are LOTS of best FLoyd songs on my iplayer now. Loved the lyrics and the instruments in the mix are just superb. That crisp acoustic guitar in the opening etc is gorgeous. Great singing - the song fits your voice perfectly but then again, as you wrote it, it would wouldnt it - lol! I'm particularly enthralled by the chord use in the Chorus - when I get back home I'm going to have to work them out - really taken by the way a "standard" sort of chorus beginning with C (if it s in G) morphs into something else with some beautiful turns and twists. Impressive, my friend. cheers ian

What a wonderful production and performance. You certainly know how to use BIAB to make it sound like it is all performed by live studio musicians. Top notch vocals, harmonies and writing. I am always redundant in my praise of your stuff, but, dang, you certainly set the bar high and let us all know what can be done with BIAB if you take the time (and write good songs!). Thanks for sharing.

yeah, what everybody else said!
I'm curious to know, Floyd... are you trying to get your songs in front of people who can place them with recording artists, movies or other media? You've got it all, and it seems like you, of all people, stand the best chance of selling your songs.
having said that: spray paint another LP gold and nail it to the wall.... you got anothah winnah
