Hi all,
it's been 4 months since I posted.
I used a midi file I made with ireal pro
it had bass, drums and piano.

Sax is BIAB SAX,ALTO Older SW 140 P.J Perry
also: 449:RealDrums=JazzBrushes

SAX AVENUE - soundCloud

It's a fast Jazzy tune, I hope you will enjoy

Hi LP,

Very entertaining! Great chord progression. The mix is outstanding.

You've done a great job putting this together. I was so caught up in the flow of your music that the abruptness of ending took me a little bit by surprise. Did you try different endings before settling on the present one?

Regards,
Noel

thanks, for liking this song. Below is a link
to an image of the chord progression simply repeated 10x

It is an unusual, almost unstable progression redeemed with a Sax counterpoint... and yes I was stumped for an ending. Perhaps sounds of a city night at the beginning and ending of the song would have left a better after taste.

Thanks for your honest option smile

Very cool!! Has a great "city" feel. I could imagine it in a city scene, at night, maybe in a gangster film. Very, very well put together and produced!! Take care. Greg

Although jazz is not exactly our "cup of tea" we agree with Greg about the "feel".
In our fantasy we ended up in some city bar, smoky and cosy laugh

Hello, LPman

Very cool and a great "city" feel. This is an authentic jazz.
I was surprised that iReal Pro was so suitable for jazz composition.
Now I want to try this application immediately.
Great chord progression. I will never be able to write such progression.
May I ask you one question? Please teach me if you do not mind.
Does it have something special meaning to write Fm7(b5)/C# instead of Db9?
Very enjoyable listen.

Best Regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Thanks for your great comments!
As far as iReal Pro being suitable for jazz composition.
There Negatives to this app....
1) you need another device to access your exported midi/or wave file. (dumb!)

I used PCchord app: while searching to confirm what chords I was using for making my piano progression...
but iReal Pro chord chart doesn't have all the chords below.

to answer your question:
Does it have something special meaning to write Fm7(b5)/C# instead of Db9?

I would have to replace en-harmonic spellings and see if
iReal Pro treats the chord differently... I doubt it....

I am not a fan of chord naming.... anyways ....specially when dealing with counterpoint harmony
which I am working on for my next Song...

Once I am finished with writing my counterpoint harmony... I would probably spell my chords correctly.

In short chord naming before the song is finished is not my cup of tea!

counterpoint harmony changes everything.... so the chords below doesn't
help me much until the song is finished....

from: http://www.scales-chords.com/

C#9 = F G# B D# / C#
Ddim(maj13) add(m2) = F G# B D# / C#
D#9/11#5sus/C# = F G# B D# / C#
Emaj13 add(m2) = F G# B D# / C# omit(E)
Fm7(b5)/C# = F G# B D# / C#
Fº7 add(#5)/C# = F G# B D# / C#
F#maj9/11/13sus /C# = F G# B D# / C# omit(G)
G7b5 add(#5) add(m2) /C#= F G# B D# / C# omit(G)
G#m6/11 /C# = F G# B D# / C#
Amaj9b5 add(#5) /C# = F G# B D# / C# omit(A)
A#m11 add(m2) /C# = F G# B D# / C# omit(A#)
B6/9b5 /C# = F G# B D# / C#
Cm(maj11)#5 add(m2)/ C# = F G# B D# / C# omit(C)

I just got ireal pro: Sax Avenue was experimental, to see what is possible with odd chord progressions.

hope this post helps answer your question ....

thanks for posting:)

And it's funny cause, I used "it's not your cup of tea" in my new song "Hello World"
I guess it got stuck in my mind... but I forgot the source that triggered me! It came from your post... thanks!
