From the topic of this song, you can tell how long it's taken me to get it completed! Rio Gold Past the giant arms my bird's descending, Protects this land, I'm told. To the sand, the hills, the sea unending I come to make my claim to gold. Here like pilgrim strangers, foreign speakers, I left our region cold; Bringing gear from poles to swords and sneakers; I came to fight for gold. Starter's shot, the race a flash; Out of medal, finished last. Thought my dream a hopeless prize Till your smile lit up my eyes. Never thought I'd be out-classed! Not prepared to finish last; The years to get here, still worthwhile-- The gold of Rio was in your smile. On the stand the champions basks in glory, Their winning feats retold; Your eyes and kiss--that's the real story! I left for home with RIO GOLD. =================================== Style = L~JOBIM1 - Jobim1, Latin Bossa RD = RockLiteEven8^5 RT's = 511, Guitar Electric Soloist Dire; 1441 Sax, Alto Soloist JazzFunk MIDI = E Piano (4Front Rhode); Flute/Tambourine/HiHat (SampleTank3)

Cool backtrack. Got me thinking of the tv shows from the 70's. Cool subject in the lyrics. Well done

The Rhodes and keyboard bass made me think of The Doors straight away. Thematically it could've been them as well. The sax solo seems at odds because is has a push to it, a sense of the rock the rhythm could follow but the rest is languid - which is fine but leaves the sax at odds. There is a little unevenness in the electric piano rhythm as well. I think this has the bones of a very cool song but you should experiment with other Realdrums to drive it all to match the sax.

Really well done! I 100% get the Doors comparison rayc mentioned. I really liked the groove, and the sax solo fit surprisingly well. I'm a big fan of the vocal delivery here too - it really helps the whole thing flow nicely. Great work and thanks for sharing
Cheers, Deryk

Another great delivery from your studio.
Despite the late start, this one is worth waiting for.

Cool vibe!! Nice pleasant song! I think I asked before if you listen to Michaeal Franks but never revisited that song post. You have some of his feel....listened to him A LOT for a decade or more. What is your vocal signal path..reminds me of him too. Nicely done!! Take care. Greg

Thanks Greg... I do like and listen to Michael Franks... But I like a lot of vocal techniques that are kind of flat and undramatic... I don't know what you mean by vocal signal path... Tell me what you're talking about and I can respond. Thanks for listening!

Hello, Tom
I feel your characteristics very much in the chord progression at the bridge ("Starter's shot, the race a flash;" to "Till your smile lit up my eyes.") where I love the most in this tune. It is also very classy that flute follows guitar phrase. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.
