Now and again, I find new music that I really like and think is "worthwhile".
So I thought I would post a "review" when I find them.
It's more a "recommendation" (since I won't really take the time to do a review).
Most often (probably always), they will be CDs (or streams) that I consider:
Well written songs
Interesting productions
A good listen throughout.
It will likely lean towards Country, but often will have more of a Singer-Songwriter flavor... It might help someone open up a little to newer styles to incorporate into their current music.
SO... I highly recommend the new record from: Brothers Osborne - PORT SAINT JOE Although this is labelled "Country" it is a lot of things other than that... When they sing "We moaned like Jones and drank like Hank" it is not with fiddles and pedal steel underneath...it is as if they are backed by Little Feet or The Dead. Certain songs have the hardest parts of the Eagles mixed with the easier side of Johnny Winter... a smattering of R&B guitar riffs, Countrified AWB, some gentle Steve Winwood, some players from Stevie Wonder's band....(not actually, just sounds like it) a splash of Modern Country here and there at the edges. Those who consider themselves "Guitar Players" (with a capital G) should find a lot here to like. Those stuck in the 70's might want to start with "Weed, Whiskey and Willie" to ease into the rest. All of this with good, solid lyric writing sitting on top throughout.
