Maybe it's amplified by the language but I was reminded very strongly of the north-european folk songs trend - in my book that's most certainly a good thing!  Yet another "delicate" arrangement, an absolutely fitting compliment to the sincere, no-frills vocal delivery. A great testimony of "Less is more" right there. Heartwarming.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!
