Look At Me Now BIAB is an excellent tool to create interesting rhythm beds, I don't know what genre this song should be categorized, because I have used RDs from techno to salsa Not much lyrical story, more like a summer painting, but I hope you still enjoy this little tune I composed with BIAB already 16 years ago, and now enhanced with the latest tools (or actually with BIAB 2019 version, I haven't bought the 2020 version yet... when I have it, I'll probably try the new steel drum RTs for this song ) RealDrums: TechnoElectro, DjembeKeitaEv16, FunkSync16hsPerc, RootsyFunkPerc1, SalsaBombaMedium4 RealTracks: Electric bass #1433 Electric piano #1437 Electric guitar #2617, #1403, #3255 Trumpet #480 MIDI: Soloist #323 (Marimba Forte DXi + SampleTank3 Vibraphone Chorus) The Orchestra Pad (SampleTank3 Open Rich Pad) Vocals by me Mixed in Cakewalk by BandLab Lyrics: Colors of summer the art of joy ripples of love little coy. Golden sand by the sea the waves of your body are rocking me. Surfing the tide the Sun is high the sharks in the water are never shy. Imagine the storm a hurricane the scent of your hair soft in the rain. Look at me now here I'm lying. In the bed of my dreams on the sheets I'm dyeing. Catching the rainbow in pretty eyes paint on your cheeks slowly dries. The canvas of tears suffering smile is a highway to recovering. The landscape of light lost inside the losing of you I can't hide. The walls of well-known galleries reveal my private wet memories. Look at me now... Solo [#323] Look at me now... -------------- Janne

Very nice Janne!! It's a super smooth composition! Love that melody in the chorus section The vibraphone solo is perfect! Those steel drums you mentioned will compliment the tune nicely! Thanks, Torrey

Janne, yep a smooth backing with a pretty cool mix too. The story is pretty cool too though you've left it open to some interpretation by using dyeing as opposed to dying. I'll leave it at that as I've already trodden on toes regarding definition & context this week.

As Torrey said, smooth. Except for that "dying" bit in the chorus. That was... interesting. Nice tune.

Hi Janne,
very special, very creative, very cool!
This is the kind of song you listen to with a lot of concentration, wondering how it will progress, because there's nothing you could predict.
The chorus is especially nice, and of course the lyrics are most interesting.
I especially loved the line: "smile is a highway to recovering." - yes it is.
A really good and most interesting job, Janne.
Regards,,
Stefan

Janne, Another creative and enjoyable venture from you. An unpredictable melody on the verses ( with surprises in the lyrics too) over a terrific smooth rhythm bed. Vibraphone sounds are really good. Bump this again if you add those steel drums!

Thanks, Torrey Thanks Torrey for your very supportive comment I rarely use the BIAB MIDI soloist, I used to try it more often, before there were no RT soloists, I guess there are hidden pearls like the one I used here. Cool song. Nice mashup of instruments. Unusual and effective. The use of vibes for the solo is really nice!!
Good imagery in the lyric, nice melody. Good mix.

I think your statement "more like a summer painting"... Aptly describes the vivid artistic images dwelling within your lyrics... Actually from a artistic painter's point of view... In the bed of my dreams on the sheets I'm dyeing. Makes perfect sense to me... It leads right into visual painter's images of the 2nd verse... Really cool lyrics, at least, to my eyes. I'll be waiting for the update with "the new steel drums".
