This is a slow sexy blues song with some finger style acoustic, some Clapton style lead and some blues harp. I played the acoustic, the electric, the blues harp and did the vocals and the tracking / mixing as well. I hope you folks enjoy it. https://tigerboytom.bandcamp.com/track/bluesberry-jellyroll

A very nice blues. Excellent harmonica and nicely payed guitars throughout.
Just a little thing - the acoustic was separated to one side in my headphones and louder than the rest of the mix.
A nice authentic blues sound.

Thanks Peter.Im glad you enjoyed it.
Yes, placement and levels were intentional. I wanted a different kind of mix where the acoustic finger style guitar is the driving force . Keeping in on the left at that level gave it separation from the rest.

BTW, this track allowed me to finally use a great Clapton/ Bluesbreakers tone with my Jackson SL1 USA though a Helix LT and a great patch I found online.

Well, Im sure disappointed in the lack of feedback from this forum. Im not sure whether to attribute it to a different preference of styles or general apathy or a poster popularity thing. Regardless, the quality of tunes I create deserves a better audience than this group seems to provide. https://tigerboytom.bandcamp.com/

@lasvideo - It may be too late for you to see this reply, so I'll make it suitable for everyone.
I do believe there is some truth in your conclusion - I have experienced a varied response to the tracks that I've posted here, although its only been a few, and I have to admit I was initially disappointed to see other tracks getting a lot more views and comments than mine, but then after really listening carefully I thought it was pretty fair.
You're never going to get a completely even response - it will depend on the day and time you post it, how busy the forum is, how many other songs were posted around the same time. There's always going to be a preference for people who recognize certain members and know and like their work to go there first. You can't really expect to show up out of the blue and instantly get the same attention as everyone. With that said, however, there are a number of things that you can do to make your song posting more appealing and interesting - an interesting song title, some details on how you created the song and what BIAB RealTracks were used and so forth, which is outlined in the forum guidelines.
In my own experience, there was another forum (which I will not name - no need to spread negativity) which I was quite active on for months, but I really did feel like an outsider and that my songs just didn't fit in with the particular style or vibe that was prevalent. The quality of the songs and variety here is definitely greater here in my view.
Finally, I think it's always wise to look to yourself first when the reactions on a forum or other social media is not what you expected. I'm not saying that's the cause here, but I recall a discussion panel by some legendary songwriters on their experiences (one of them was David Crosby). They all pretty much agreed that early on they thought their songs were great, and the reactions they got were not great, and that they learned that, yes, their early stuff was pretty crummy (relatively). Fortunately for them, and part of the reason for their success, was that they persisted and took those reactions as a challenge to do better, and the combination of their persistence and talent paid off. Some of them actually wrote really great stuff for years, but didn't get the recognition they truly deserved until much later.
So, to sum up, I don't have an answer, but what I do believe is that this is a great forum with a lot of talented people, where you can find respectful and supportive input and also find a lot of really great music and knowledge. I also believe that if you put in time and effort to really listen, participate and show some interest in the folks here, you'll find it quite a rewarding experience.

Thanks Ed for that very thoughtful observation.(BTW Ive been a member here for several years). Luckily I am a member of other musical forums which have been very positive and supportive of my work. So that does put this forums lackluster response into perspective.

lasvideo, Tom, comments come from listening and listening comes from people seeing your name and connecting with it as someone who also listens, comments, posts etc. The forum has be VERY, very busy during the pandemic: lots of people at home and making hay while they can. I opted not to post anything new for about a month as the number of songs on offer was too high to listen through or manage. I didn't want to add to that volume. There's also the Ying & Yang nature of any forum or the Karmic current. If one comments and listens others are more inclined to respond. Not all, not always but it's human nature. The "rules" ask that posters indicate as much BIAB related info as they can regarding the track etc. to assist others to emulate and, in the end, to promote the product. I did drop in on your post when it 1st arrived but the 1st sentence put me off so I decided to come back later. Mix wise the bass, drums & organ sound like they're in a different room to the vocal, harmonica and lead. The finger picked side doesn't really drive the song...to be honest I tuned it out after a while to listen to the rest. I did find the idea of a Clapton style lead from a Jackson amusing so points for humour. You vocals are well recorded with a minimum of sibilance, (still some that I'd treat mind you,). I'm relatively new to the forum and don't count on folk listening but I do attempt to listen to as many posts as I can and tend to skip those folks who don't do similarly...no, not those who don't listen and comment on my stuff, but those who aren't much for the reciprocal nature of forums. You seem to carry flint and iron with you as you approach bridges. "Regardless, the quality of tunes I create deserves a better audience than this group is able to provide." You may not need this forum if you can fill you cup elsewhere. As has been sung here abouts: Hubris is a word, that doesn't rhyme with turd but they meet in the same sh*t sandwich.

I always run straight to anything you post, based on how much I've liked your previous material. Some posts get lost in the shuffle, I don't think it's anyone's fault. I've seen some of Greg Johnson's tunes get shuffled off the front page pretty quickly, and he is one of the best on here (maybe the best). Overall, though, if you stick around, you'll get a following.
Nice track, my kind of music you did here, I'd like to hear more like it. Big fan of blues harp.

As you missed the pertinent bits these will assist the listener, many of whom do like lyrics and details, as well as inform their review/comments.

Oh, just what I love. Jellyroll and blues. Well written and well played, Tom. Although I really like what you did with the acoustic, it seems too out front. It dominates my left ear. Such a fun song to play. Thanks!

Thank you so much Marty! I appreciate your feedback. I have revised the mix several times before mastering it. Its a bit unconventional but I felt the acoustic finger style guitar track was the real heart of the tune and I wanted it to be a constant presence in the tune. By keeping on the left, it allowed the vocals and solo instruments to be spotlighted in the center track. And it nicely balanced out the electric guitar solo on the right track towards the end. It might not be something everyone likes, but it does exactly what I wanted it too.

"Toot Toot", sorry, I can't play your tune. It seems you're not really interested in the feedback people offer. I did offer constructive feedback on your mix. The finger picking acoustic doesn't nicely balance the electric as was noted by most folk who listened and commented in this thread. Repeating something often, at least in right wing media, may convince some of the people some of the time but it's not axiomatic. If you don't want constructive criticism or suggestions simply state that...several folk have made it clear that is their circumstance. You're taking your ball and going home? For my part, I think you should stay, post, participate and find your place amongst the range of the keen, the polished, the happily amateur and the ambitious who frequent this forum. You do get bonus points for spelling the ring flute correctly too. Ah, here it is... appropriate?
