I read, accepted and applied suggestions offered. There was quite a long wait for a guitar solo that didn't arrive so I opted for a BIAB option. I did download a RealTrack set of guitar solos but, as good as they are, they didn't match the style or sound of the song so I used something alien and out of my comfort zone which, it seems, worked quite well.

Fran is great - he mastered this from a 24bit file I sent to him with WeTransfer. Normally I do 16bit. Currently he charges around 25 UK Pounds to do his thing for me as I'm a regular. He's was only marginally dearer when I 1st approached him.

Summary of changes for Version 2018 Build 263 (July 20, 2018):
Added: Help Video button added to the Audio Harmony dialog.
Added: Menu items added for opening an entire Karaoke file.
Added: Menu items added for opening an entire MIDI file.
Added: Support added for features that some newer styles will require.
Fixed: Audio harmonies would be generated with the wrong notes if selecting a range of audio in the middle of the track.
Fixed: Band-in-a-Box might crash or freeze when using adding UserTracks and pressing Play.

Added: Save As style feature has support for MIDI velocity changes if volumes aren’t 90 on mixer when saved.

July 11, 2018 User Showcase Song - Good Things Come

I wrote this song maybe 5-6 years ago and sent it over to the Englishters! Rog and his crew worked it up as a Beach Boy kind of surf tune, which I loved. It never went up as the original rocker tune as it was written, so I revived it this week.

This is yet another "You dumped me and now I hate you" song. It was a reminder that you can't force a relationship to work, but that good things come to those who wait. I did not intend to quote the condensed meaning of Psalms 40:30, but I had heard that passage all my life, far before Heinz Ketchup and Guinness started using it as their slogan. And trust me, that girl reminded me that I should wait for good things....

July 05, 2018 Save Notation Window as a Video with Band-in-a-Box® 2018 for Mac

Did you know... Band-in-a-Box® 2018 for Mac allows you to save the Notation Window as a video? What a great way to share your songs with users, and LEARN from the notation as you listen!

From the program manual:
[Save As] | Save as video
-In the Make Notation Video dialog, select a track at the upper left corner. (Note: The dialog title says “Make Chord Sheet Video” until you select a track.)
-You can also set the dimension (width/height) of the video and select the number of frames per second and a specific codec.
-Press the [OK - Render Video] button to start rendering the video. When the video has been created, press the [Show Video File] button.
-You can then double click on the file to watch the rendered video.

Note: A special use of this feature is to combine a Video RealTracks (new with version 2018) with the corresponding notation in a single video. This creates an educational video, which shows the actual performance with notation/tab, playing over your chord progression! To do this, right-click on the Master button or one of the track buttons at the top of the main screen and select Render Video(s) from the menu.

July 03, 2018 User Showcase Song - Living a Lie

Not had nearly as much time here as I'd like recently, and this is my first song for over three months.
The 1990s was a strange decade for music, but that's about as close as I can get for this one. This is a song about one of those situations where everyone except the person involved can see clearly.

It was all tracked-up in Powertracks and then moved to Realband for the Sax RT. There's extensive use of my old hardware Syntovox vocoder on the vocals. It's a temperamental piece of kit and I'm always surprised and relieved when it boots up and works. One of these days it won't and then I'm lost.
