My Dad was a real character and he had a bunch of great sayings. I was thinking of some of his well worn lines and realized this was a treasure trove of song ideas. I bounced this one off Bud Merritt and he was able to point me in the right direction for the 2nd verse and the ending chorus. Against his objections he gets a writing credit because without his contribution the song would not have gone where it went. Thanks Bud, and a big thanks to Janice for her impeccable harmony.

March 22, 2019 Learn More About the Redesigned Band-in-a-Box® SongPicker!

Wow - how much do you LOVE the redesigned SongPicker in Band-in-a-Box® 2019?!

The SongPicker within Band-in-a-Box® accesses the folder of your choosing for easy opening of all your favorite songs, or song files purchased from a third party or shared by a friend, member of your band, etc.

Now, with this redesigned feature, you can view the chord progression for your selected song without having to open it in Band-in-a-Box® and can copy the information from this window right into a TXT file!

The new progress bar is a great visual aid when you're updating the folder - for instance, if you load the ENTIRE Band-in-a-Box® folder, that's over 15,000 songs - and it's nice to see the progress/confirmation on screen. Not that you'll be waiting long - since the SongPicker now builds lists faster!

Plus, there's so many filters added - searching for the song you want has never been easier!

This is a cumulative update patch, which works from any 2019 build. VST DAW Plugin update to 1.13.5 (Mar 7) is included in this patch.

Improved: Faster program bootup.
Improved: The SongPicker has sorting added. Each column can be sorted in forward or reverse order by clicking on the column.
Improved: New buttons [Search] and [Search Again] in the SongPicker allow you to search for certain text.
Improved: In the SongPicker, pressing the first letter jumps to that song (using the sorted column). If you type more than one character (within 2 seconds), such as typing ba it will jump to songs beginning with "ba".
Improved: SongPicker Options window has "play when chosen" added.
Improved: SongPicker Options window has option to disable sorting (if you have a slow machine and more than 40,000 songs in a list, you might want to disable sorting).
Fixed: Band-in-a-Box might prompt user to re-activate their license. Users who are still getting a message such as "program can only used on one computer" at bootup, can repair their license with this small .exe.
Fixed: Noise and frozen playback problems when using SampleTank 3 on some computers.

I wrote this song 15 years ago, now I revisited it by re-arranging and singing the vocals. Basically a reggae song, but, because BIAB is such an inspirational tool, I have added elements from other genres as well, hopefully it doesn't sound a mess. I would call this a humoristic break-up song, because of the name-dropping - references to song titles of certain artists, flowers and places in Europe.

Did you know there is a Song Form Maker feature within Band-in-a-Box®? It allows you to define sections of a song (A, B, C etc.), and then rearrange the song by simply typing the form you want (e.g. AABABAACA). Accessing this feature is easy! Just press the [Song Form] button and select Song Form Dialog from the menu. Watch this feature in action here.

Some months ago I posted a song here and got very nice reactions. This should have encouraged me to send more numbers, but I did not post more songs. Why that was, I don't know. Yes, wait... I do know. I did not know what I can ask from you, beside listening to that song.
And here I am again. With another song I recently made. It's called Maybe.

And I still want you to listen to it, but I have question as well.
I made the song in BiaB and the style is called Wounded, although I changed some of the instruments.
What I noticed is that all instruments stop where you want them too (luckily), but if you want them to play just a little longer to avoid 'hard cuts' I can't see how to do that other than in a DAW. Although not a really tough point, I do hope one of you can tell if that can be avoided. The chord-options button does noy do this job.

I recently re-strung my trusty old Yammy APX3 with some 'gypsy jazz' strings to see if I liked the tone.
This resulted in this little tune, like you might hear in a little wayside continental Cafe. A bit GJ, a bit Latin - a lot of Fun.
