As kids, I'm sure most of us have read the old classic Treasure Island with Jim and Long John Silver. I happened across a Starz series called Black Sails. Without too much persuasion, I started watching the series. (4 seasons) Somewhere in the 3rd season I started to put the pieces together that Black Sails is the prequel, the back story to where the treasure came from how it got to the island and so many more aspects of the book. Yep.... I had to go back and read the book again after I saw the series. It helps to know some of the characters in the book by seeing them in the series. Highly recommend it if you like sea dogs and sword play. Black Sails is not a kids series by any means.

So... I hadn't been working on any music so I decided to write something....anything and why not write a song about pirates? I mean what could possibly go wrong?

Influences include: Led Zepplin, ZZ Top, Game of Thrones, Black Sails.

I threw out all the rules I normally abide by in this one. Short intro...gone.... under 3:30... yep not happening.... As things went along, I added some interesting things..... and yes... it fades at the end....keep your ear peeled....

I hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe. John Vaughan had sent me the original lyrics to this song almost two months back now, when things just started getting strange . . . and I had been lingering on it. Mostly because in our current environment it seemed, well, just a little too sad, and it was admittedly hard to muster the motivation. I finally turned back to it. I’ve revised the lyrics some degree to fit the melody, but John’s vision remains: the loneliness of separation in these not so bright times. May 27, 2020 User Showcase Song - Fall Line Road

Tom wrote the lyric, put it to a progression and sent it to Janice for her to create a melody and record some vocals. She entered her “method actor mode” and became this lady for a while
We had no idea where he was gonna take it after we sent the vocal but for us it certainly landed in a cool place and we hope y’all agree!

Tom and his wife camp a lot in a very nice large camper and it requires a BIG truck to pull it. He suggested a photo of Janice and his truck model…so this is what we spliced together for SC. Oh, and we live on Ga’s fall line.

Please note that this is a Tommyad production. All I (Bud) did was engineer the dry vocals and edit the photo and enjoy the ride.

Hello fellow songwriters and shelterers in place. We remain in a tricky world. Hope all of you are well and not going too crazy.......not sure I can say the same for the latter! One day, I saw my daughter (who is quite artistic....that gene went right through me) painting in watercolors. She is an enthusiastic, dreamy, and whimsical kid. I immediately was hit with the line "She sees the world in watercolors" and kind of fell in love with that concept. With a little help from my band (okay, our band) I put together this song. My producer/promoter put together a video which I like quite a bit. I generally have mixed feelings about videos, but I feel this one enhances the experience of the song. I have both versions available. Hope you enjoy! Take care all.

So much cool music in Showcase! At least there are some positive and creative things happening during our little home sitting. Speaking of home sitting and little ones. How do you explain situation to kids without spooking them, but at the same time to be cautious...? I wrote this short kids "hygiene" tune to be sung by a kid. Unfortunately, my son refused to sing it. I have to pinch my throat with pliers to sing that high, so I found a way out, and asked my wife to record vocals. Mix is a bit hot as I do not usually mix vocals other than my own. Constructive feedback is ALWAYS welcomed.

May 21, 2020 User Showcase Song - Get A Job

I grew up listening to the blues.
In the sixties it was John Mayall - the "Beano" album with Eric Clapton
and "Hard Road" with Peter Green. In the seventies I discovered Albert Collins
and so began my love affair with Telecasters, but that's another story.
In the eighties, JJ Cale and Robert Cray showed me that a blues didn't necessarily
have to be a 12 bar and that it could contain a mix of major and minor chords.
So here I am, back to my roots with a blues track.

The horns are a mix of Forte and Edirol Orchestral.
The drums are our own samples of a sixties Premier kit with a chrome 2000 snare.

The whole thing was mixed and mastered in Harrison Mixbus 32C v.6

May 15, 2020 User Showcase Song - Psycho Guitar

Just some silly playing around with a few RTs and effects - nothing too serious. I put this together one afternoon about 3 or 4 weeks ago. It's only 2:34 in length. Di was napping and I had a little time for music. It's no big thing ... just some fun time for me. I made a few track substitutions from the original style. And, obviously, I added a few affects ... mostly echo/delay and a slight amount of flange.

May 14, 2020 User Showcase Song - Ripples and Thoughts

I made a new song, like a lot of us do. I hope you can find the time to listen to it. It's not an ordinary song. It's also not in Dutch. I was reading about all the stress that the measures around the virus caused to a lot of people and thought maybe I can help a bit in a way crazy.

I used a loop for a special effect somewhere around 2/3 of the song. I also used a Shakuhachi, a synth with the sound of a flute or recorder for the dreamy first part. Then a second drumkit for the rest of the song.
And I tried to make a special effect with 8 voices towards the end. because I post the song I think I did it right, but tell me if I don't. And be as honest as I know the most of you!

May 13, 2020 User Showcase Song - Where Do We Go

I hope everyone is safe and well. I’ve been quite busy for some time now. I played in a band during tourist season doing corporate and country club gigs. Then it dried up. For some reason that escapes me I continue to keep working when in all reality I should have retired years ago. My wife and I were planning on traveling most of the summer but that has also begun to dry up. So maybe it’s time to write some songs. I will be listening and commenting soon. There are some great things being posted and I’m glad to be back and have some interesting music to listen to that will help get through this trying and very unusual time. A co-write with Reid Richmond.

Through the '90's (and beyond), almost every year a rumor would run through the Nashville writing community that "Country radio is moving back to a more traditional sound".
And that never really happens. It just keeps moving forward.

But...during one of those rumor periods, when Reid and I got together to write (which we did a bunch) we figured we'd throw one out there to "catch that coming traditional wave". HA!

This one got enough interest that it was published and pitched (by Sony/ATV).

Band-in-a-Box® 2020 apporte plus de 50 nouvelles fonctionnalités! Des améliorations ont été apportées aux RealTracks (RealTracks vocales au son plus doux, Epaississement des RealTracks, fonctions RealTracks "Trouver un Subs" et Multiriffs). La majorité des RealDrums dispose maintenant de RealCharts (avec une notation Drums précise). Le nouveau navigateur d'artistes RealTracks permet la recherche d'informations/bios/liens/listes sur artistes RealTracks. Le nouveau navigateur de fonctions permet à l'utilisateur nouveau ou "tête en l'air" de trouver et d'utiliser facilement la plupart des fonctionnalités/raccourcis/documents à partir d'une seule fenêtre. L'égalisation du tempo permet de changer un morceau rubato enregistré en un tempo fixe. L'étirement audio temps/pitch a été amélioré (Elastique inclus).
