April 25, 2024 User Showcase Song - Time Waits For No One
I've never written (2) songs back to back before so I'll throw this one against the wall too.
A song about life and how we sometimes fail to grasp it and it's unknown adventures or opportunities.
You know, the "without some risk there's no reward" thing.
My sincere thanks to Ken (klasaine) for his time and musicianship on this new one.
He's the best and easy to work with.
Thanks also to any that give it a spin and hope you find it worthy of your time.
***I stumbled upon this salsa track and knew it could drag something out of me eventually.

April 24, 2024 User Showcase Song - Green Is So Much Greener Without Blue
Two-minute-something of unsophisticated cliché pop banality.
Just what the doctor ordered.
Short, so you don't have to suffer for too long.
Green Is So Much Greener Without Blue
I don't know why many of my love songs are about ended and/or failed relationships.
I'm still happily married.
I'm probably the dark side of Marty.
The Anti-Marty...

April 23, 2024 User Showcase Song - Till The End Of Time
A couple of years ago few songwriting friends and I got together to create a small, local songwriting group. All of us had drifted away from writing songs to varying extents, and we hoped that this group would provide us all with a bit of inspiration to keep on making music. It worked. Two years later we are still all together and writing.
This song is one that I wrote back in 2022, shortly after the group started. Recently, I thought I'd take my rough draft of it and turn it into something a bit more substantial. This is the end result. I'm singing and Synth V's Hayden is helping with harmony.

April 15, 2024 User Showcase Song - In The Evening (feat. PeterF)
Our first J&B tune in quite a while is different in style and length - hey it’s less than three minutes!
Every evening just before bedtime Janice takes a short walk to enjoy the night birds, sky, tree frogs, fire flies and more. Recently while we were mountain biking the words to this tune sorta popped into Bud’s ole head. Peter worked closely with us on the production and played some fun and different parts. We were surprised and very pleased that it was accepted for a popular Spotify user playlist. As always we much appreciate your time to listen and hopefully comment. Many thanks to PeterF and PG Music.

April 12, 2024 User Showcase Song - Pending Questions
...Great to see that the User Showcase is active and people are doing creative things. I am dedicating this tune to my musical friend Ray (rayc). I think this would be inline with tunes that we did in the past. I hope he forgives me for some structure / incorrect word usage and we can still be friends :) In my defense, I had very little time to track vocals.

April 11, 2024 User Showcase Song - Temperature Rising
Temperature Rising is just a little quick and dirty fun song I did for the heck of it. A flashback to the 1950s? Some of you "old timers like me" will know where I got the idea for the song and the song title!

Tempo - 90 BPM
I deleted the bass and string tracks and modified the remaining tracks so they better fit the song.
Drums - Steven Slate's SSD-5 = Jazz Brushes.
Percussion - Kontakt - =Brio Ensemble
Piano - Arturia = B3 - Jazz Organ
Guitar - UVI Workstation = Plug Sound Pro - Jazz Guitar Full
I am playing my Squire P-Bass and via my breath and keyboard controllers the Swam alto flute. The finger snaps are wavs.

April 05, 2024 User Showcase Song - Why Isn't Love Always Fair?
Well...this song is really different for me...not the style or tempo...these I've used a lot but the subject...a sad unrequited love song...
This was my first song with Hayden and Natalie (Synthesizer V) so I wanted something brand new so I started writing and you know how it goes...the song sort of wrote itself...I used a melody I had composed a couple of weeks earlier (Melody in A) ...I wanted a trio since I write for three part harmony (mostly)...well I have a lot to learn yet about manipulating the AI voices but here we go! ...so if you do...thanks for listening and I always appreciate your comments...Dan

April 05, 2024 The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

April 04, 2024 User Showcase Song - Black & Blue
"Black and Blue" is a 1929 jazz standard composed by Fats Waller with lyrics by Harry Brooks and Andy Razaf.
I approached this song with a fair degree of trepidation because It is one of my ten all-time favourite songs and Louis Armstrong's monumental version in 1964 in Berlin.

April 02, 2024 User Showcase Song - Old Memories
As far as I know, Tom Adams is the only pedal steel guitar player active on the Users Forum - and a damn good one! He has opened for, and played with, some of the country music greats over the years. Most of you probably don't know that Ronnie Fields' uncle, Gene Fields, founded GFI back in the 1960s. They quickly became one of the premiere makers of pedal steel guitars. Several of the A-list Nashville steel players used a GFI.
I, too, am a huge fan of the pedal steel.
This is the type of backing track you would have heard on country songs from early George Strait, Gene Watson, and many others in the '60s, 70s, and early 80s.
So, I put this together, hoping they might enjoy it. This is my way of saying thanks to them for their contributions to the country music industry for the past several decades. Thanks, gentlemen!
Ronnie: my youngest brother used to live just down the road from GFI. He lived in Niangua, MO. Several members of my family live in the Springfield - Branson area.

April 01, 2024 User Showcase Song - Bletchley Park
Background
Those living across "the pond" in Europe I'm guessing are very familiar with the English country house, Bletchley Park. For those less familiar with Station X, it was the principal center for Allied code-breaking during the Second World War. Its main objective was to break enemy codes and decipher their communications; which through much hard work they accomplished. At its peak in 1945, nearly 10,000 personnel worked there, about three quarters of these were women. These people had a variety of backgrounds including math, linguistics, chess champions and crossword puzzle enthusiasts; many had formidable lateral thinking skills. The famous mathematician, computer scientist and crypto-analyst Alan Turing was one of many brilliant minds that worked there. I wonder how many musicians were among their ranks; after all, we think laterally smile
What I would give if time, circumstance, skill and geography gave me the opportunity to work alongside those at Bletchley Park. I would love to have worked on the automatic decryption machinery developed there. As Tom Brokaw coined it, they truly were the greatest generation.
WWII should teach us many lessons, yet authoritarianism is on the rise around the world; how quickly we forget. And many young people I speak to have little interest in "ho-hum ancient history" despite the fact that if we had lost the war, and their parents, grandparents or they themselves were born with a defect or had "undesirable" family backgrounds that they wouldn’t be here today.
This song is a tribute to the men AND women who did their part to help win victory at Bletchley Park. I hope you find this song enjoyable and the theme reflective.
