So I decided to try and do an acoustic version of Rivers Of A Strange Land, too. The drums have gone, altogether, and there are only two guitars and a bass, to accompany Eleanor Forte (of Synth V)'s solo vocal. I've also done a video for the song ... see what you think? SO, this piece is an ode to my love of the eighties and New York City in that time period, where everyone just danced and partied and had a good time, everybody was outrageous, everybody was crazy and no one had these stupid, selfish, divisive and ridiculous narratives going on, at least that I could tell.

AND WHEN SHE LOVES ME

God I miss those days. I am so thankful I got a chance to play the clubs and be a part of that party and rock scene with my band when I was young. This is very much what I sounded like back then. It was crazy. And a stone cold blast. And I loved the hairdos. And the polyester. Be still my beating heart.

There is A LOT of guitar in this. The song was born from the guitar hook which comes in immediately, and that is my Telecaster Part 1. Then there are like 3 more Telecaster parts, and two Stratocaster parts, and a keyboard part, where I am playing a DX7 emulation, PLUS a few Real Tracks and more parallel mastering with the Scheps OmniChannel. A couple of Fenders, an amp, and a DX7. Can't beat that sound. Party on.

I once played a whale on bass for a recording of a funky version of Sea Cruise, and it sounded more realistic than the store-bought sound clip. On this one I try a hungry tiger to start the sway. I tried to add a little saliva to his roar. Turns out the bass doesn't do a good tiger.

In my last post Dave kept all the cool BiaB guitars and briliantly added his solo. On this one Dave switched out one of the BiaB guitars and I switched out the other.

Well, it's been a while . . . I've been on a bit of break musically, and I haven't visited the forum much these past number of weeks (though did get time to listen to a few here and there along the way). Nonetheless, I have a lot of catching up to do.

I’d like to say that my musical hiatus was by design, but sadly it's more attributable to lack of creativity and motivation. After quite the dry spell, I have written two new songs. Not so sure about one of them, but here's the other.

I'LL KEEP HOLDING ON

On the production side, a HUGE shout out to Rayc, who plays bass on this one. It's the third song of mine that Ray has played on, and the songs are all the better for it. But on this one, Ray also provided me with some additional and killer guitar and string tracks that really added some teeth to the chorus, giving it the angry edge it desperately needed.

I've done my best to do justice to his great contributions, but then mixing has never been my strong suit. And any shortcomings are solely on my shoulders. But it's as far along as I think I can take it for now. As always, I'm hoping your additional feedback and suggestions will help me bake this a bit more more.

For decades we played in bluegrass bands and also enjoyed listening to a lot of country music. It was only natural that our early years on the forum were oriented around these genres.
