just purchased biab megapak and joined this site. My question maybe is a dumb one, but here goes. Does biab megapak have the ability to import a song and reproduce it without certain insturments? I guess what I'm asking is this......if I import a song can I then alter the song in any way, (i.e) leave out or add any insturments? thanks for any information

Do you mean a song in audio (MP3, Wav, AIFF, etc...) format? If this is the case, the answer is unfotunately no. To my knowledge there is no program that can do that. But in BIAB you can open a song in MIDI, KAR or Band in a Box own format and mute any instrument you wish, it's actually a fantastic way of practising your instrument.

Band in a Box can, however, import a MIDI file and, if the file was created as a proper multitrack MIDI file, you can select which of the MIDI channels to mute using the BiaB SEQ window. But it is for MIDI only, as Cerio has already pointed out, cannot do that witb audio tracks.

For audio files you can use the auto-chord wizard to try and get the key, chords and tempo and then re-assign instruments to your heart's content.

Hello, I don't even know if this is the right place for my questions, but here goes. £ questions while I'm at it.
1. How could I get an acoustic strum, like at the beginning of a song?
2. How could I get a simple background organ sound, like in a gospel song, where the organ just plays the chords, as they change, without playing the melody?
3. A similar question, how do I simplify a soloist, instead of the instrument playing "all over the place" how can I get it to play just a few notes here and there?
Thanks in advance. If my questions are in the wrong place, maybe someone could tell me where to go (with my questions!!).

The strum in question one above means a single strum, or one strum at a time.

You should start your own post ! What you may want is hold chord on your guitar and excluded instruments should rest. Alt+F5 will bring up chord options ,will also let the Organ play held chords too. In Soloist on right side middle is Soloist Maker edit that will control the amount of solo and other parameters too. Under more you can deselect use long phrases too.

Thanks for the help. I have the Ultra Pak Plus (2011). The 2012 updates are tempting, there's some nice new styles there.
I'll start a new post when I have more questions. Meanwhile, back to BIAB.
