This wasn’t easy!
Objective: To make a biab backing arrangement of “So What” using the correct bass and piano riffs while still using realtracks. Here’s how I did it:
1. Found decent midi of So What on net
2. Opened it in RealBand and cut out all but the bass line (vibes melody line on the midi file) and saved as a new midi (I got a little sloppy with my cutting and pasting - but not too shabby for first attempt).
3. Repeated #2, this time cutting out all but the piano part (vibes melody line) and saving a new midi.
4. In my already completed biab arrangement using realtracks, I put the bass line in by going to “Melody - Edit Melody Track - Import Melody from MIDI. Then changed it from vibes to acoustic bass and transposed it down 2 octaves (also in Edit Melody Track – Utilities.
5. Then I imported the piano part from Soloist – Import solo from midi track and changed from vibes to piano.
6. Now I had to shut off RealTracks Bass and Piano during the “A” section which was easy to do in “Bar Settings” (you can see all of my tweeks in the biab.mgu file below – downloadable from my dropbox account (great free program by the way). Great fun, but not for the squeamish
Enjoy,
Mike
