You are making yourself rich without giving anything back to the community (like a job), just like a lot of self-centered profit hungry corporations. Why not make them here for $19 and sell for $169?

rharv, i was being facetious! i spent 30 years in importing electronic components and offshore sub-contracting for several brand names that you would recognize immediately. at that time it was a too-little-too-late effort to keep some of them alive. unfortunately, few of them survived. i felt like i was committing subtle treason when i "caused" job losses among people i counted as close friends.
i can tell you stories, my friend. i didn't mean to offend you.

if you are being serious: a $16 increase in production cost results in far more than the example you quoted. it's a markup formula that few businessmen that i've ever met can calculate, let alone, understand. add to that fact that most electronic circuitry is "an application" therefore unpatentable so you suddenly find yourself doing the r&d for your foreign competitor who has a cheaper labor force to build your "borrowed" engineering.

Is there or was there ever, an unlimited supply of oil (gold, fresh water, take your pick) that will last forever?
That's what I'm talking about.
Incidentally, has anyone been able to eat gold, or convert it to gasoline or electricity? Or water crops with it?

Trying to stop the equalization of global incomes (the decrease of our standard of living while the standard of living in previously 3rd world countries rises) is like pouring a cup of hot water and a cup of ice water into the same container while expecting each cupful to remain the same temperature. In nature, the combination of extremes always leads to an averaged conclusion. At best, you can artificially delay the inevitable... but nature always wins in the end. Stated differently, you can swim upstream for a while, but the river will never get tired.
