Sometimes I have one midi part on the melody track (not unusual) and another midi track (of my making) in the soloist track. Fine. But I run the risk of inadvertently calling for the Soloist to make a solo and overwrite my midi notes on the soloist track. Suggest having an option to "lock" the soloist track from being overwritten. If I were attempt to do so, I'd get a warning with an option to proceed or abort.

Yep. +1 more.
In addition: there should be a "lock track" for each individual track, so that you can regenerate the song without changing all tracks at once.

I did? I had no idea I was that smart.
I think what you might be referring to is the idea, inspired by a new user, to be able to in effect 'freeze' the other MIDI tracks, NOT just the Soloist and Melody, by saving all tracks and especially by not regenerating the song upon reloading. If I'm wrong about this, it won't be the first time...
Your idea seems much easier to implement.

How about just a warning screen flash instead?
Sometthing like this: You go to create a Soloist and when you hit Okay, the flash pops up, "There is already music data on the Soloist track, continuing to write data will Delete it. Okay to Overwrite?" YES NO CANCEL
Or something like that...
