A bit of a fun song for the summer and a massive co-write between the team in England and our team member Eddie in Ohio. Everyone had input into the music and lyrics, though the prize for the best rhyme has to go to Eddie who matched "dawn" with "on". It works great the way Eddie sings it, but not at all if you're English!

The cast -
Voices - Jessie, Courtney, Ellie, Eddie, Josh, ROG.
Guitars - Beth. Bass - Alex. Keyboards - ROG.

Let's Do It Again

Do you remember when
We went surfing with all our friends
We thought the summer would never end
Come on back and do it again
Do you remember back
When we only had our boards to pack
We were staying in the old beach shack
Well come on down and let's go back.

Summer seemed longer way back when
We thought the days would never end
Grab your board and shades and then
Let's go back and do it again.

We'd meet up at the break of dawn
With our sandals and our baggies on
The sun shining on us all day long
We'd keep surfin' 'til the day was gone
We'd spend the day working on our tan
Then pile wood in a ring in the sand
And sing along to our favorite band
The summer beach life is oh so grand.

The bonfire roared burnin' driftwood logs
As we stood around grillin' some burgers and dogs
The surfer life is a perfect 10
So let's go back and do it again.

Recorded on both sides of the Atlantic using Power Tracks and Real Band.
Get waxing down those boards!

ROG.

ROG, you have masterfully nailed down the Surf Sound of the 60s - 70s. Brian Wilson of Beach Boys fame would love this one. I hope that you have more Surf Sounds on your menu for the near future. Well done throughout, my friend.

Hmmm.....well, I was in high school in 1963, lived an hour from the beach, owned a surf board, bleached my hair and listened to all the surfin' bands. But then along came the Beatles -- oops another story.

So, I got the cred to say these surf sounds are not only cool but bring back many memories.

I can visualize Annette and Frankie dancing on the beach and joining the Beach Boys for a chorus or two!

OUTSTANDING!

This is a keeper!

What a great production number this was. The miles apart, the music, the
vocals, and mix. First class all the way.

Thanks to the cast for their efforts!

That song sounds as if it was a lot of fun to record.
Well done Eddie, ROG and the gang in York.
And yeh Eddie's rhyme of dawn and on even works if you are Welsh, but how LOL!

We used to play a rockier version of "I get around" in one band and the singer used to introduce it by saying: " Have you heard the joke about The Beach Boys walking into a bar" and then we'd all start singing: "Round?" "Round?" "Get a round" "you get the round?" "Get a round..etc etc.." laugh grin

Yeah, Team! That was fun!

Nice simple lyric - perfect for this type of song.
Captured the feel and the sound (could see everyone doing "the swim" as you sang!) Good mix (but shouldn't it be spread out a bit? LOL - <kidding>)

Big time kudos to Beth on the solo - EXACTLY what it needed to be!

Hi ROG,

Well that got my feet up and tapping a sand storm. This was excellent on so many levels. It's a real credit to everyone who was involved. Ok... back for another listen now!

All the best,
Noel

Don - Glad you enjoyed it. I just wish Brian Wilson would pick it up!

Bud - Pleased it brought back memories. Here in the UK, it's difficult to live much more than an hour from the beach in one direction, or the other. It's really a small island in comparison to distances in the US.

Mario - It makes it all worthwhile when someone enjoys it - thanks.

Frank - Thanks for listening and the kind comments.

Alyn - You're right; this was fun, fun, fun, from start to finish. Loved the "Round" joke.

Floyd - Always value your comments. Agree about Beth - a bit of talent there.

Guenter - Glad you found it fun too.

Noel - Thanks for the listen(s). Appreciate your time and all the positive comments.

Dani - Once again, pleased to invoke happy memories.

ROG.

Fun song and that guitar solo was right in the wheelhouse! How did ya get Eddie to do a sub 4 minute song? (ha, ha).

Kevin - Thanks for the listen. The song could have been longer, but we left out the verses with the giant squid and the shark attack. (LOL)

DA, Joanne, Gruverider - Thanks for the comments and glad you all enjoyed it.

Thanks from the whole team to everyone who took the time to listen and for all the feedback. We certainly had a lot of fun doing this one. I even found myself in the surf shop yesterday, looking at boards!

I actually pushed for the shark attack but we couldn't figure out a way to work in that "Jaws" theme music in....
