Hello Adam,

This is pretty nice for a first contribution to the forum.
Welcome, by the way!
One little comment though, I would put some EQ on the entire mix and boost the highs a little bit.

Regards,
Rob

I re-recorded the vocals so that they are centered now and I added some reverb. Hopefully I set the reverb at a decent level!

Paralyzed

Thanks again for all the feedback and please do let me know what you think about the updated sound.

Adam,
Welcome to the forum! I think you'll find the BB is an outstanding tool for creativity but it doesn't surprise me you had to resolve a problem right away. The S/w can do so much you have a lot of controls and switches and options. The tech stuff can drive you nuts but the results are worth it.
Although the S/W is great, this forum is even better. These folks are real pros and experts. Don't struggle, ask the forum.

About the song, good to hear some hard metal sound. Great first effort! I'll keep an ear our for you.

Hi Rob - I will read up a bit on how to properly mix - I don't have any experience with it. Let me know if you have any suggestions/resources - not sure if it is specific to BIAB or just general concepts that I need to learn (probably both). Thanks for your assistance!

Just took your advice Space Dog - I will try not to be too shy about asking for help on the forum. Clearly a great group of musicians out there - very impressive!

This thread has moved down the list - not sure how to get your attention again, so I am re-posting. I re-recorded the vocals based on your collective feedback - now the vocals are centered and I added some reverb.

Paralyzed (updated)

Thanks again for all the feedback and please do let me know what you think about the updated sound.

'We eat some dinner, but it's over fast'

Just one of many lyrical nuggets in this excellent and interesting song. The melody of the chorus is extremely catchy. Nice:)

Looking forward to more.

Thank you very much olemon - I appreciate the positive feedback. I think I'm most excited about the feedback on the lyrics - now I need to write some more... smile

Hi Adam and welcome to the forum!

Sure am glad I read all the posts before I posted as I was wondering why everyone was talking about your vocal on the left channel then discovered you fixed the track.

The thing I like about "Paralyzed" is it's metal based but not too much metal. I hope you'll recut "Alive" using BiaB.

There are some serious songwriters here (I'm not one of them) so you're going to feel like you're in good company.

Thanks for the compliments and kind welcome, Jim! I do plan to recut "I'm Alive" with BIAB. I started working on it and this gave me the kick I needed to get focused on it!

Nice first post. Really rocking.
I get the vocals only on the left channel.
Did you do that on purpose?

Guenter

Guenter said it very well. Welcome and
please update thread when you remix.
Nice song!

Thanks Janice & Bud - the song is remixed - let me know what you think. Thanks!

Thanks Tom - I fixed the vocals so they are in the center. Enjoy!

That's BIAB for you. cool

Welcome, what a good first post! I enjoyed that a lot; all it needs now is a guitar solo. laugh

I would leave the chorus repeating as it sticks in the listener's mind.
I wound the volume up; opened the doors and gave the neighbours the opportunity to listen also and no complaints LOL so far!

I look forward to the next post, now you have sorted the vocal problem.

Alyn

Thanks Alyn - I hope your neighbors liked it as much as you smile
Enjoy the updated recording.

Glad you figured out how to get your vocals centered. I enjoyed your song very much. I like the length of your chorus, I'd suggest rewriting to change a few words or a line instead of just repeating the same whole thing twice or shortening it.

I can’t move, I know I should; If I could break it then I would
I can’t move I’m paralyzed; I wish I had an alibi
I can’t ____, I _____________; If I ___________________________
I can’t move I’m paralyzed; I wish I had an alibi

Just a thought. Use or toss.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Josie

Thanks Josie - I appreciate the suggestions. I think I will leave this song, but I hear what you are saying and will have that concept in mind when I write the next song!
