Over in the User Showcase someone made a great suggestion regarding formatting so that people who wish to listen to your songs could easily find the link to do so. I have skipped a few songs because it was not obvious where the dang link was hiding. Also, it is really useful when folks identify all of the RealTracks used but sometimes they do not do it.
So, my suggestion/wish is for PG to add a simple feature to BIAB that lets us push a button and get a screen full of info about the song, all consistently formatted that we can just copy and paste right into a post! It would include at a minimum the following,
- Song title with link to demo (yes I know that is not saved in BIAB currently but would be pretty easy to add or just add a placeholder with the link code and all I have to do is paste my live link over the placeholder when I am ready to post in the showcase)
- style used
- each RealTrack used with number and name/description
- lyrics (again, if there is no way to store them in BIAB just provide a placeholder I can paste over top of)
- Etc. basically everything that can be exported as text from BIAB!
And, anything that needs code to display properly in the forum, build that right into what I copy/paste.
This would greatly improve consistency in the song postings and prolly get everyone a few extra listens!
Trevor, You are correct, the information is there and easy to copy and paste but only if the original poster takes the time to copy and paste or otherwise provide a memo of such information. JohnJohnJohn seems to be looking for a way to prompt the original posters to provide the information or make a template that requires it be provided in order to post a song to the User Showcase.
I wish that some would take time to use the BIAB video feature so we could study their chord chart as well.... That's where I believe the real magic lies...
Thanks Charlie for the clarification. Yes, that could work for some songs, but not every poster places a song created in BiaB or RealBand (in fact, it's not a requirement that the song should even be created using PGMusic products).
Many posters also do the groundwork in BiaB or RB, and then take it to their (other) favorite DAW for polishing, so in this case there would be no automatic form to fill out.
However, if one were available, a template could be used to guide the user to fill in certain sections. Yes, it certainly has merit.

Trevor, PGMusic would likely have to provide a new tab specific to posting a song so the automatic form to fill out would have to be populated when the poster attempts to post a new song.
If no PGMusic software was used, the fields would be blank. If PGMusic software was used in creation, effects, mixing, mastering, Realtracks, midi or regeneration, ACW or notation; the poster would populate the fields with this information.
The template could contain a section for software other than PGMusic software that was used.

Using a Template that requires the forum member number could also possibly provide a way to restrict spammers and groups who sign up just to promote their unrelated to PGMusic or the Chinese from hijacking the US thread by not allowing a song post as a new members first post.
