Maybe this has already been suggested, but here goes...
While newer versions of RealTracks allow you to pick the sets you'd like to install, I would like to be able to choose individual instruments within the sets. Maybe I only want the acoustic bass tracks in Set 7 and not all of the sax tracks. I know I can install everything and then manually delete the WMA files I don't want, but figuring out which associated ST2 and XT2 files need to be deleted is not easy. It would be far simpler (from a user standpoint) to have check boxes for the tracks during the installation.
In addition, I haven't found an easy way to install tracks from older versions that I didn't need then, but do need now. My only solution was to install an old version of BIAB on another PC and do all the upgrades until I found the tracks I needed. (Is there a better way?) A matrix on the website showing what tracks were included in what versions would be helpful. I had printed out all of the RealTrack listings and then spent a large chunk of the day trying to figure out what I needed, what version of BIAB contained it, if I bought that version, if I bought a Pak separately that contained it, or if there's a RealCombo that has it.
I love the RealTracks and RealDrums, but I think there needs to be a better way to manage them.

Hi BanjoGuy55
Welcome to the forum
Isn't it just possible to install everything (default), and then just select whichever tracks you want from inside the program? You should be able to pick any individual instruments from the real-tracks this way. Just ignore any you might not currently wish to use.

If perhaps the OP's reason for doing this is storage space, then I concur. The audiophile version takes up 1.5 terabytes. I routinely delete RealTracks I know I won't ever use (most of the soloists) but am not sure about the .ST2 and .XT2 etc. files.

Hi Matt
Yes, I agree, but there was no mention of drive space issues, which made me wonder what the actual motive was. Maybe the O/P can advise? I just run my Audiophile from the PGM supplied USB3 removable drive with the Custom Folders pointing to the drive. It works great.

++ THIS PAGE ++ lists all 227 RealTrack sets and describes each instrument track in each set. You can also export the RealTrack instrument picker information as a data file then import the information into a spreadsheet to create unique spreadsheets containing whatever information you desire. As for myself, I have no desire to add complexity to the RealTracks installation process by adding instrument selection checkboxes.

These come on an external HD so is it possible to load a RT from the external and if one likes it copy it to one's computer's HD?
If not then would purchasing a 2 gig external HD and installing the RTs on to it and doing the above work?
I know that this could be a time consuming work around but it may help.
When I was young I was poor. But after years of hard, honest, and painstaking work I am no longer young.

Yes all of the above. PG could do that with the Inno Installer, add Advanced Install Options. Yes bigger hard drive would be best way, then you always have it just in case. To free up space on the Audiophile Drive you can temporally move the Data and Loops to the root from in bb\RealTracks\ then just do a search for .wma in bb\RealTracks\ & bb\Drums then delete them, *ONLY if you don't want to install Biab and RT&RD to a laptop or desktop using wma only from the Audiophile drive. Inno Extractor will do a custom install if you know what you are looking for. If you want to make your own custom Installer Inno Setup

Yes, the audiophile drive contains all the .WMA files of the regular version plus the .WAV files, but the .WAV files are about 11 times larger than their accompanying .WMA files. Deleting all the .WMA files doesn't save all that much space in the big picture. Thanks for the tip about the inno files, though, if you really want to squeeze out as much space as possible.

I had to to use wav only to just fit 2015 on my onboard 1T drive that 2014 was on without having to buy a new 2T drive, but for 2016 will have to do that I'm sure. FastCopy lets you copy lets you copy folders but skip wma

Good tips! Yes, that size sounds about right. The complete audiophile package for BIAB 2015 was nearly 1.5 terabyes, and there will no doubt be additional RealTracks in 2016. Good thing one of the cheaper aspects of computing now is hard drive storage space. I could tell you about personal computer storage in 1976 ...

Thanks for all the replies. There were two reasons for my post:
1) Several BIAB versions ago I only need to make practice tracks in a couple of genres. Since then I've upgraded several times and I've started to learn to play in some different genres. I wanted to go back and find the RealTracks that had never been installed and add them.
2) I've been installing my RealTracks to a 64 gig flash drive and am trying to save space. No sense installing tracks I don't plan to use.
