This is a co-write with Michael LeBlanc.

Mike wanted to write a "Biker's Hymn".
Something that could be played at a memorial.
He was tired of always hearing "Knocking On Heaven's Door"....

FALLEN RIDER

this one goes out to the rider
from our hearts, forever blue
for the ones we loved we crank our motors
ridin' on in memory of you

   fallen rider
   your journey never ends
   fallen rider
   forever in the wind
   fallen rider
someday we'll ride with you again

this ride's for the rider lost
the one who rode until the end
taken too soon from us
the ride of love for our friend

   fallen rider
   your journey never ends
   fallen rider
   forever in the wind
   fallen rider
someday we'll ride with you again

fallen rider
someday we'll ride with you gain

Another classic from Floyd.

This is a sensational write and flawless delivery. I can see it has a big place with bikers.

You captured the scenario perfectly, and projected it perfectly.

Excellent, really excellent.

Excellent song for the occasion.

I rode with a motorcycle group (CMA) in the past. I attended a few biker funerals as a result. Since we were the Christian Motorcyclists Association, the bikers often turned to us at this juncture in their journey. In our chapter, we had a few ordained ministers who would often speak at the funeral. One of my buddies, knowing he was soon to die from cancer, asked me to do him the honor at his funeral. That's a day that I will never forget. His story is in the song on my website....Ode to Wolf and the video is on my YouTube channel.

Riding in the funeral procession with hundreds of bikes was something I will never forget. And all the clubs would come together for that occasion and leave their differences outside the door. One thing they all had in common was there was an end to the ride one day.

Great song. You did good.

Floyd,

Great song and delivery - really nice vocal on this one. I can see this in film - would make a very cool movie song.

Excellent job!

This is great man. You know Floyd, I always enjoy listening to your songs. You kind of remind me of Bob Seger, all of your songs are predictably strong, built like a brick house as they say around here. I haven't heard a weak one yet. Great stuff man.

Thanks, Peter... I was attempting to find an opening that would "mimic playing Taps", so the harmonica seemed the appropriate choice for this... glad you liked it...

Floyd, I am sure all the fallen riders can't not hear this requiem from where they are. And I imagine the tears it should drew in certain situations. Also, perfect accompaniment.
Cheers

Beautiful tribute song!! I love the heavy beat, singable melody, and poetic nature of the chorus. This is how it should be done! Harmonica is very cool-sounds custom. I can't help thinking about Duane Allman when hearing this. I was a big Allman bros. fan in high school. As expected, vocal and mix are superb. Really, really nice work guys!! Take care. Greg

Certainly different from "Knocking On Heaven's Door".
