Playing around with a few ideas for songs I either cannot sing well (eg Bolero Ballad partly sung in Spanish) or have the midi skills to produce string arrangements for, I wondered if a dedicated forum for those seeking collaboration might be welcomed?
Sure, I could and have, approach members via pm, but sometimes you just wonder if there aren`t forum readers with unseen/heard talents who might be interested in taking part in a project... very much like the Kompoz site, but for BiaB users.
Some have used the main song forum to invite, but its getting quite crowded there ( also not really where I`d want to put a rough demo).

Good idea. You might want to cross post it in off topic -- lot more activity there.

Our albums and singles are on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Pandora and more.
If interested search on Janice Merritt. Thanks!

Just post it in the (this) Songwriting Forum.

What do you think THIS songwriter's forum is for?

Sure, we can share thoughts and ideas on writing better songs as we have been doing, but why not use it more fully as a place to find collaborators as well.

Just title your post accordingly: Collab needed on country song.... etc... I'm sure interested people will jump in to work with you.

I also like the idea of PM's to the specific people you may wish to work with. But if you're not sure who might be best suited to help or have the interest or time, posting it up in this forum would be the thing to do.

I think we should keep the User Showcase for "finished" songs as it has been designed. Besides, this is one of the USer Showcase rules:
Quote:
Please limit the threads on this forum to the User Showcase postings. Off-topic threads will be moved to the off-topic forum
As I see it, a request for a collaborator would be "off-topic" in the Showcase. Yes?

By using the Songwriting forum we keep the partial songs and posts regarding collaborations in here and out of the Showcase. I'd hate to see the Showcase start getting cluttered up with other things besides the finished songs that are being "Showcased" there. There's no problem with posting here asking for help on a project and even posting the unfinished song idea here so people can hear what you're try to do and what they are signing on to assist you with.

Well thought out and presented.

I agree.

You just missed out on one of the most collaborative songwriting ventures in the year. I'm talking about February Album Writing Month, or FAWM as it is known by us FAWMers. Now it's time to comment on each other's songs. Globally, I believe we collectively wrote something like 12,000 new songs. I collaborated with folks from Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, UK, Norway, and Australia.

That said, there's a sister challenge later in the year called 50/90 which also has a focus on collaboration.

These challenges tend to have a focus on collaborating, as that helps to stretch each other's abilities.

There are also several Facebook groups dedicated to songwriting and you will find willing collaborators there. One is called the fearless songwriter.

Thanks for that- I had noticed the collaborations Joanne Cooper did as a result of participating in FAWM. Though the constraints of that venue don`t appeal to me, there`s certainly opportunities for song collaboration out there I`ve not explored yet;I`ll look up those links you gave.

The guy who is the brain trust behind FAWM did this very cool analysis of FAWM over the years and added in an analysis of the 938 songwriting collaborations that occurred this year. https://slackprop.wordpress.com/2017/03/07/an-analysis-of-fawm-2017/

Don't let the constraints of the challenge get in the way of participating.
