You know what? I'm having a real struggle finding a melody that'll work with it also. And you know what else? So is the Melodist, truth be told. I really don't care for anything it's generated for it yet. But I still have some ideas that may work with a specific style.

Have you noticed the way some styles strip away all but the basic fundamentals of the chords in the songs' progressions? So far, I've found two styles that do this. One is for Irish Jigs and stuff and the other is a Bollywood style. One of those Irish jig styles was a bit of serendipity for me regarding another piece I had been working on. When I matched that style up with the piece, it stripped the chords to their bare fundamentals and it ended up being a very powerful sounding piece -- totally transformed it. So I ran with it. The melody worked perfectly with the style, so I had another completely new song just by changing the style.

The Bollywood style did much the same with the above progression -- stripped away all the b9s and sus4s and what have you, and gave it a more fundamental, archaic feel, I guess. Visions of Roman Centurions facing the teeming hordes, ready to do battle. That sort of thing. But the melody needs work to support that sort of tune. And that's where I am with it right now. I've rewritten and massaged maybe 20% so far. Maybe in another day or so I'll have something I like.
