If you're referring to the chord sheet, then it's possible to change the color of all chord cells, but not a specific selection.
Right-click, select Display Options, then Select from the drop-down the item that you wish to change the color of.
You can change the color of Part Markers (Sub-Styles), and you can add gradients for effect. That might do what you require. From 6 years in the future, thank you for this post!
