Say Goodbye To Love This is my entry for Xtra Styles PAK 5 Song contest in Country category. I used _PINING style with the addition of the #2691 solo guitar. The title of the song came to me in a dream with a simple melody. I modified the melody a little bit to make it more interesting and wrote lyrics around the title with a quite dark theme about a person disappearing without any explanation. Style is _PINING.STY (Pining Fretless Bass Ctry Ballad) RealTracks in style: 2937:Bass, Fretless Electric Pop8thsRene Ev 085 RealTracks in style: 2825:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm CountryPopMike12-key Ev 085 RealTracks in style: 2916:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm CountryFolk8thsBrent Ev 085 RealTracks in style: 2883:Pedal Steel, Background CountryEddy12-key Ev 085 RealTracks in song: 2691:Guitar, Electric, Soloist CountryBalladBrentSimple Ev 085 RealDrums in style: BluesRockSlowEv^3-a:SideStick , b:Snare, Ride Vocals: Janne S Mixed in Sonar Platinum Lyrics: Why did you have to walk out of my life without telling why? Too many questions, where you were there is still, many vacant moments left to fill. Addiction, longing the hounds of the mind chasing the doubt you left behind. Say goodbye to love say goodbye to love don't leave me hanging cut the strands of hope above. Say goodbye to love say goodbye to love even when the truth hurts don't baffle this virtuous dove. I pray for a knife your rope rubbing my neck lone years as a wreck. Guilt reigns the gallows must have done something wrong I've been waiting vainly for this long. I'd rather fall down hard on the ground than live through forgiveness vaguely bound. Say goodbye to love... Vultures throw the dice on your tomb sunset dyes the hill of the doom you may put the blame on me just set me free, let me fly free. Say goodbye to love... ----------------------- Janne

Janne, I really liked this one! I think it's probably one of my favorites of yours! I know you used Country genre instrumentation, but in some strange but beautiful way it came together to produce a lovely pop style tune with a wonderful melody! Great work again from you! Thanks, Torrey

Janne,
This is a really interesting song. A colorful lyric, an interesting melody and a BAND that works for it nicely. Nice vocal - sits in the mix well.
The solo works really well - I looked back to see what it was - that is always a good sign...was surprised it was a "Country" soloist...
The overall sound/feel actually brings to mind mid 70's theater-rock... Pink Floyd, early Genesis, King Crimson... very cool.
Enjoyed it. Well done.

Really good - one of your best vocals and a nice strong melody and interesting backing - (not quite country but sounds great). An excellent composition.

Very nice song with unique minor chord progression! Great melody! 100% of this song are exactly your song itself. Enjoyed my listen a lot. Good luck with the Xtra Styles 5 contest!

BIAB provides really great band, usually I have difficulties to find a good soloist, but this was quite easy, this kind of simple guitar playing fits the band very well. And I feel really honored to be mentioned among those theater-rock bands Janne

Thanks David for your positive words Actually I think I've never listened to King Crimson, was not in Spotify earlier when I tried to find it (at the time my favorite band released an album called "Crimson / Red"). Now there seems to be some live albums so I have to check them out. Thanks for your reference Janne

We really like this...all aspects of it.
As others have mentioned the country band has a very different and effective sound. The production would fit perfectly in about any Americana playlist. And Americana is full of strong productions.
That 2691 solo is one of our favorites. It seems to fit so many genres and you used it to perfection.
And as floyd mentioned you vocal fits very well in the mix.
Nice!!

Janne,
You've done a great job writing and presenting this. Everything sits together very well in my headphones as I'm listening this morning.
I found the overall sound very haunting. Even now, 10 minutes after the song has stopped playing, I can still here the chorus in my mind. It's easy to hear that a lot of careful consideration has gone into creating the final production.
I really like how you sang "Say goodbye to love" followed immediately by a repetition of the phrase with a slightly altered syllabic emphasis. That's a pretty advanced lyric writing technique and you've used it very well indeed!
All the best with the competition, Noel

Love, love, love the chord changes and clearly distinguished musical passages. You clearly know what you're doing. Melody is great and delivered with a sadness befitting the lyric. Really enjoyed this.

Peter Thanks Peter for your kind feedback I used doubling for my vocals in the verses and tripling in the choruses, that seems to smooth the worst rough spots in my voice. Janne

Great arrangement. And nice contrast in the melody between the verses and the chorus.
I enjoyed the song and your mix.
