Using it in a pretty good pc configuration ram 16 Go on SSD windows 10 . and band in a box up to date 610

Bandinabox installed on the SSD and realtracks are installed on another internal harddisc

coming from version 2011 i was full of hope ... but such a deception the vst dont work at all midi or realtracks and the process to render files so long 3 minutes ! no need of vst if the process get such long time to render files !

The process come until the end and the yellow windows says all is rendered
In the vst3 the little squares of the tracks get colored green or yellow but not the ones from the master track.

And when trying to play, no sound and a message telling me "the track has not been generated yet" and i can wait an hour, no sound at all.

Any though ??

Yes, just wait, not worth trying to get it working and stressing, there will be another release anytime now that will fix a lot of issues, then there will be another and so on until it's all working really well.
The end result will be well worth the wait...

Reaper is working for me with some, small exceptions. It will lock up on occasion. And the GUI of the plugin is glitchy. But it has rendered the file almost each time. The time lag of the render is related to the length of the file. For me in my main DAW studio one the render or generation time is about 2 minutes for a 64 bar song about 3 1/2 for a 96 bar song while would like a bit faster I can live with that for now.

Yes i see the video above where it works ....

It seems the vst release has been out too much early ... seems really a beta test VST ! I was really hoping more

whats really new since 2011 ? I read hundreds of new features each year , but cant see any which really change my use of it in a good way.
I will wait 2 weeks before trying to have a refund.

Anyway Thanks for your help.

I agree this one is buggy and need more to cook longer but they are working hard to fix and refine it. If you take a stroll thru the build logs as an old friend suggested I do you will see this noting new. Every year a new version comes out and it has a lot of new features many are small tweaks to things like the style or RT pickers. Many are refinements for the RTs, user tracks, and RDs. Enhancements to the piano and guitar windows, in 2016 I believe info was added to the RTs to allow them to stretch in other DAWs like Reaper and Sonar etc.

There have been literally hundreds of small refinements since 2011. And some really big ones. Not knowing your usage of the program it’s hard to say how much you will benefit. For me there has been a lot of useful changes.

I’m with you on the frustrations of them things that don’t work right out of the gate. Sometimes I have to be reminded that there is no other program that can do what this one does. I have seen folks suggest other one around here but on further inspection they simply do not even come close. This darn thing is deep and complicated. I for one have not even scratched the surface yet.

Only you can decide if it’s worth an upgrade. I just hate paying almost twice as much later in the year only to hear the next release is two months away. This years release is buggy but it is truly a biggie. I work in Studio one and last night I banged together a pretty cool sounding song bed for a concept I’m working on and while it took 3 minutes to render the tracks, and another 3 minutes to create a pretty cool solo riff. Inside an hour I had created, and mixed something I was pretty happy with.

I was thinking back to when I really got started with this stuff using acid pro. And how I cobbled together songs with painting and processing loops. Man I wish I had this then.

Armand, I agree the 100s of features amount to very little of value since I first purchased in 2012. And the VST is clearly not ready for release. But the new RealTracks and styles have been and continue to be worth the price of the upgrade! I am now just ignoring this buggy VST and using BIAB like I always have...32-bit and drag/drop. No problems!

Maybe they'll get the VST right some time down the road and maybe not. But that won't stop me from thoroughly enjoying these new RTs!

I agree the Realtracks are the best part of Band in a box without discussion. Even id like to have more posssibility of just upgrating some style instead of buying whole things i will never use. In fact i dont really understand the philosophy of their marketing .. but thats another discussion smile

Don’t forget that many of the upgrades to the quality of the RTs have been implemented in the new releases of BiaB. It has been upgraded to handle and process that RT files better and more effective. You could purchase the RT PAKs but they would cost individually more that the upgrade, and you would not get the enhancements.

Actually, BIAB went from 16-bit to 32-bit with BIAB 2004. This from the 2004 upgrade manual:

Quote:
All New 32-bit Program Engine

Previous versions of Band-in-a-Box were a combination of 16-bit and 32-bit
code. The new program is rebuilt with a 32-bit-clean engine. Program
operations are much faster, including up to 3 times faster notation redraws, song
and soloing generation. Playback timing is improved and rock-solid with all
versions of windows, including the newest XP and Media Center operating
systems. The GUI is enhanced with floating/dockable toolbars.

I finaly after changing lot of setup last was changing the asio for my soundcard in realband (was it really that ?) the vst becomes to run but ...
i try the new 611 ... but not really just another bugs appearing in the windows now the measures are not filling it 4 measures first line 3 on second line, and 4 on third line .

Very deceptive , it is such more time consuming than draging with the old method ... really dont understand the benefit.
The only one i see using the vst is not having to open BBW separatly , but now using it , it is so long to have the files rendered that is become no more interesting

Secondly the vst when playing is not playing in a track of the daw but we hear it from a separate source, so its not possible to send it to another track, we need to copy the files before and play it in the daw.

it is not really a vst as other vst but more a software running independently

So being able to use Biab in a rewire mode is still needed for my use unfortunately

8 years after of asking it, like so many others . So i add it in wishlist again this year. Sniff
