Hey everyone! I'm brand new to BIAB and just started watching videos and playing around with it. This is probably a dumb question, but when inputting chords it seems to default to choruses as sections, but I want verses, chorus, and bridge. Where do I note this? Thank you!
In BiaB, a chorus is considered playing one time through a song. It can consist of what we more commonly identify as a verse, chorus or both. It's just referred to as a chorus.
You can create repeats, Codas and Endings also
This video explains more detail:
BIAB & RB2025 Win.(Audiophile), Sonar Platinum, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M Monitors, Pioneer Active Monitors, AKG K271 Studio H'phones
Thanks so much! I couldn't find a video that explained this.
I also intend to put lyrics into the song, so if I do this is there a way to note different lyrics (e.g. verse 1, verse 2, etc.) for each repeated section?
And if not, do I need to just copy and paste chords all the way down without worrying about sections?
...do I need to just copy and paste chords all the way down without worrying about sections?
Hi Deonne,
In my opinion, setting the whole song from beginning to end as a single BIAB 'chorus' is the way to go. It allows the most efficient use of the program and gives the user the greatest amount of control with performance subtleties like shots, holds and sections (verse, chorus, pre-chorus, bridge, etc.).
Have a look at the below link. It's a video of one of my songs that I have set out in BIAB as a single chorus. As you'll see on the video, I use blue and green part markers to define the various sections.
Very nice song! This is helpful for layout, thank you. One last (maybe, ha) dumb question: how do I get rid of the coda it automatically gives you when you open a new song, after 32 bars? I realize I can set it to any number of bars but wasn't sure how to get rid of the coda.
Up at the top of the screen where the song key, first bar and last bar is set the far right box defaults to the number "3". Change the number "3" to "1" and the song will run through one time with no repeats. However you'll want to change the last bar number to reflect the number of bars you actually want.
As an example lets say first non repeating bar is "1", last bar is "12" and number of choruses is "3". That's actually 36 bars (last bar equals 12 times 3 choruses (repeats) equals 36 total bars). You will need to change last bar from 12 to 36 when you change choruses from 3 to 1.
There is also an "Unfold All Choruses" command that does the same thing.
