I don't write songs in lyric form and then add the music anymore. I did this for a long time, now, I go into my studio, began getting a rythym with guitar, drums or BIAB, start getting my recorder set up, and then began writing along with whatever I am playing chord wise or listening to BIAB after i have added chords. I may have a line of lyric in mind, or a general feel of what I want and sometimes nothing before hand. I let it flow out naturally and then make adjustments for ryhme etc. As soon as I get a good write I then record it. usually around 2 - 3 hours from start to finish. I think that is sort of the way the beatles, John and Paul would write in the early days. It doesn't stretch me out for long periods of time. It works well for me, quick and appropriate. Cliff

Cliff, that is the same way I create songs, both instrumental and with vocals. Great minds think alike!

Today I bought a doughnut without the sprinkles. Diets are hard!

Yes.... I've been working that way for a long time.

BB has made the process easier. I use the lyric document window to write the lyrics.

Almost nothing these days is on paper except notes as I'm mixing.

Add nothing that adds nothing to the music.
You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Good evening
BIAB Lyric document for my lyrics and often I allow myself to ramble freely with rhyme
Once there is sufficient material I will start the arduous task of finding the key and chords as well as getting the words to fit to the bar and beats. These are then written into BIAB above the chords.

Only then will I decide on style and musical form.

PS. It is amazing to hear how creativity processes differ when making music

Regards
