Hans,
Your vocal is very good on this, holding the attention;a feeling of sadness without self pity.
That`s a simple style I haven`t heard before- it has a lightness that`s a nice contrast
with the vocal mood.
I liked the melody too, especially on the verses.

Nicely sung, good tune, one of the best I've heard from you.

Good write, nice arrangement - especially when the nylon string came in - and well sung.

Excellent job highlighting the vocals. Not "catchy", but good at keeping my attention throughout.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Marc, Torrey, Mario, Greg, Robert, TuneMonger and David,

I am pleased with your reactions. Theye are very complimentful. That feels good. So thanks!
I thought this song won't draw much attention. Therefore the song is probably too subdued, although I like it very much. But I was pleasantly surprised after your comments on it.

Marc: You like minimalistic, so the shaker was good. I had a 'smack' ( hitting the guitar with hand while playing) in as well, but some of the forum rightly complained about it, so I removed that. That served that minimalistic feeling even more. So of course I've hitted the 'Marc' with it!

Torrey, Nice saying 'finding it a lovely song', while the subject was having a sad time... (I'm teasing a bit).

Mario, You said my voice took you over the top. My voice did not let that happen to me these years, so that is very nice to say. There comes a day I get that feeling too. But really, I haven't had this kind of experience in relations. Of course some ended in pain and grief, but not for the last 35 years. I think my imagination is very strong. I can empathize with things, always had. To tell you a secret: when I make some really sad songs (like 'But the children play') I sometimes cry while making it. Stupid, don't you think? that's what imagination does to me.

Greg, you're right about this happens all at times, but also read what I wrote Mario (above).

Robert, you made me think about what you wrote: "the feelings of sadness without self pity. A simple style you haven't heard before".
Your compliment is without a doubt very nice, but it's me who never thought this way. So thanks!

TuneMonger, I had two conflicting feelings about your compliment (one of the best songs from me). The first one was "Yesss", and the second "Mmmm". but I'm delighted you listened to more songs from me and that is the most valuable part. One day I make a song and then you repeat that line. I promise! But I see your comment as a huge compliment, that is for sure!

David, to me the song looked a bit subdued and won't draw much attention. You said the same first part 'not catchy', but then you say it KEPT your attention! That was somewhat unexpected. Thanks for that!

Hans

Hi Hans,
beautiful song and you used a style I never noticed but it was a perfect match with your voice. I like the mix.

Hi Hans,

This is an excellent musical journey.

I really like this. The ensemble of instruments sits really comfortably together and is the perfect frame for your singing.

As you are getting to know BIAB better and better, your work is getting more and more polished (and it was very good to start with!).

I enjoyed listening.

Regards,
Noel

Lovely song Hans. Super vocal and lyric. The acoustic framed your vocal perfectly. Well done

Hi Rob, Noel and Scott,

Thanks for your nice compliments.
Rob, when I search for styles, it's mostly because something in them (the rhythm or sound(s) of certain instruments attracts me, but I always change one or some instruments in the original style. I think the most of us do this, so I'm no exception. And sometimes a sad, slow song is nice for a brassy voice ;-)

And Noel and Ray, because of what I wrote to rob, the result can be as the compliments you gave me. I'm typing this post with a smile on my face because of you.

Thanks,
Hans
