Hi all, this is (I think) a final “Mastered” version of a demo song I put up earlier this year taking into account various comments and suggestions made – so thank you again for all those.

I’ve been working with the singer Justin on several of my songs and love the emotion in his voice. I had put too much reverb on the draft mix initially but think it’s better now.

There is an on screen lyric video and an mp3 at https://www.djhsongs.co.uk/new-osl-apermenantreaction - but the video seems to have a gained a few noises on the upload. Lyric also below.

The BIAB style I used was _CELLOW2.STY (Dual Cello Waltz) including

RealTracks in style: ~1121:Bass, Acoustic, CountryWaltz Sw 085
RealTracks in style: 831:Piano, Acoustic, Solo-Accompaniment Pop BouncyWaltz Sw 085
RealTracks in style: 2557:Cello, Background SlowWaltz Sw 085
RealTracks in style: 2557:Cello, Background SlowWaltz Sw 085
RealTracks in song: 2338:Violin, Background, PopLow Ev 085 (1TrackStringSection)
RealTracks in song: 2976:Vocal Oohs-Aahs, Background Pop3-part Ev 085
RealDrums [in style:NashvilleWaltzSw^6-a:HiHat , b:Sidestick, Hihat

With editing in Reaper and mastering via bandlab

Thanks for listening!

All the best,
David

A PERMANENT REACTION

As the light starts to fade
To the darkest of shades
And the shadows fall into the gloom
As all of your friends
Share memories that won't end
And answers we can only assume

Lost and adrift in this life you had lived
I guess you weren't made for these times

Such a permanent reaction to a temporary phase
Not something on which you should rely
For all of your pain if we could take it away
To stop the last time that you said goodbye

The last time we spoke
I sensed there was hope
When you said you would see me around
And you promised to call
If you felt it was all
Too much and you needed to be found

But lost and adrift in this life you had lived
I guess you weren't made for these times

Such a permanent reaction to a temporary phase
Not something on which you should rely
For all of your pain if we could take it away
To stop the last time that you said goodbye

INSTRU

Now that you're gone
Can you see you were wrong
As we gather for our final goodbye

For the love that you craved
From the cradle to the grave
It was here for you all the time

Such a permanent reaction to a temporary phase
Not something on which you should rely
For all of your pain if we could take it away
Stop the last time that you said goodbye

The last time that you said goodbye

Hello David ...

This sounds pretty dang good to my ears! I think you have the vocal just where it should be ... EQ & reverb. In the total soundscape, perhaps it's just a wee bit forward ... but not enough to take a way from the listen. I enjoyed it very much!

Just a quick question. Your profile says you're from the UK. Your vocalist sounds as though he might be from the US. Regardless, it's a super collab on a really nice song. I thoroughly enjoyed my listen!

Wishing you the very best. Please be safe ...

Alan

Another good song.
I make songs and try to sing but, I can't do it like Justin.
Well done.

Hi Alan, thanks, the reverb is a lot better now, I'd used a bit too much initially.

Yes, I'm in the UK and Justin the singer is in Canada, I found him via the Fivver website and he's now done half a dozen songs with me so far. Hit lucky with him :-)

Thanks Captain, I'm the same, I try but it's just not as good as someone who can do the job properly, I'm okay for a guide vocal but these days that's it!

Cheers,
David

That's a super collaboration you have going there, and a catchy song to show for it. Justin's voice reminded me of Joe Walsh's, but that might just be me! Good stuff.

John

Lovely effort here, everything came together so well. Violins were effective. Good work!

Mix sounds good to me too.

I like the instrumentation and melody. Piano seems to be the focal point instrument. Strong vocal. Catchy chorus.
