Hi all.
Does anyone know whether BIAB 2020 works ok with Big Sur? My Mac is nagging me to update. When I updated to Catalina from the previous OS my BIAB was no longer compatible with the new OS, so I'm reluctant to upgrade until I know my version will work.
Thanks.
George

Yep, many things don’t work. Notation not at all, and you can’t even kill off the blank screen. I’d hold off if you could. I unfortunately had ‘Auto Update’ on and while most everything else works fine, BIAB does not...

You may get a quicker response by posting this in the "BIAB for Macintosh" forum.

Band-in-a-Box for Mac supports Mac OS X 10.6 to 10.15, and does not yet support Big Sur. We do not recommend upgrading to Big Sur at this time as there are some issues for which we have no workaround - this includes crashes, graphical glitches, and the aforementioned Notation not working. There will be announcements and a build update when these compatibility issues are resolved, likely sometime in December.

Some people are getting along mostly ok on Big Sur though.

Thanks. I don't get on the forum often, so I apologise for not posting in the right forum.

What is management's philosophy on this? Do they plan to make a fix or downloadable upgrade to 2020 or will users all have to move to (and buy) 2021?

George

I've been told they're working on a patch for Big Sur, though I'm not in development so I don't know how that's progressing at the moment.

Just downloaded latest upgrade, 420. Feb 21 2021
[Website says there is a build 422 but I can't access it through updates].
Build 420 does not have notation, lead sheet, or print functions in Big Sur.
I think I wasted my time and money... its now months since this was first observed on the forum... still not working despite website saying latest version is Big Sur compatible..

I am having the same problem. I can't do any for the notation, lead sheet, or print functions on Big Sur. When will this be fixed?

On another forum thread, BIAB for Macintosh, there is a discussion thread. I found the new build, 422, still beta, under BIAB web homepage > support tab. It works. It is not accessed by looking for upgrades/new builds through your BIAB mac software. So... good news! Apologies for the rant above.
