IIRC all the Thinkpads I've owned had the power jack separate from the motherboard, so it could be replaced fairly easily if that's the case with this one. Norton never mentioned which model of Thinkpad he has, so I don't know if that's the case with his, but I think every Thinkpad has a Hardware Maintenance Manual which is full instructions on how to replace just about anything. Could be worth looking up. I work here
