Hey guys - thanks for chipping in to try and help.
I'm using V2021 (814) 64 bit app / VST3i plugin
Reaper 6.21
Windows 10 64 bit w 16GB RAM
And it's frustrating that it won't it load for me. It would be so much better than having to create and export individual files then bring them into Reaper
most times these probs are settings related. please post large pics/and/or type back the following info. 1. whats your sound device ?? 2. if your sound device has a control panel post your bit depth and sampling rate settings. 3. post your asio reaper audio settings. project sampling rate and bit depth. under the "X" in reaps TOP RIGHT HAND SIDE what does reaps say ?? 4. post your biab audio settings. from the audio prefs. 5. in windows playback and recording dialogs includeing advanced what does win show as your default sound device, and what does win show as your default bit depth and sampling rate. ?? the above will help people help you. best. i-like-reaps-too-muso. (note if other people are running 814 bb release as plug in in reaps fine then i suspect a setting in one of the above. )

my songs....mixed for good earbuds...(fyi..my vocs on all songs..) https://soundcloud.com/alfsongs (90 songs created useing bb/rb.)
Are you saying it won't install or it won't load on the reaper track?
This is how I install. Then reaper finds the VST and next I load it on the reaper track. Does that sound right like what you are doing and can you get that far?
..I can find it, select it, but it just spins, times out, and won't load...
So in Reaper you select the BBPlugin, does the GUI come up ? have you tried the C:\bb\BBPlugin\Files\Band-in-a-Box DAW Plugin Standalone.exe ? In TaskManager under Details Tab can you see bbw4_64.exe ? what drive have you got the bb\ folder installed on ? If it's on another drive you made need to edit C:\Users\Public\Ticket\Band-in-a-Box DAW Plugin Folder Locations.txt and set the correct paths:
Jim, from what I see from your screen shots you are using a sound blaster with ASIO4All drive set to 24 bit 48,000 sample rate. But your Reaper setting appear to be WAS 44,100 sample rate. In the drop down box in reaper for audio drivers select ASIO4All. Also make sure Reaper is running at 24 bit 48,000 sample rate as if I remember from many years ago Sound blasters only use that sample rating.
Side note, if it were me I would upgrade to a true interface like a small focusrite or Presonus and use real ASIO drives or dump the ASIO4All I’m not sure that driver has been kept update through the years and is not actually a ASIO drive it just fakes the Microsoft drives into thinking it is ASIO.
BUT before you get a new sound device, take a minute and let us all know what your song goals are ?? what are they ?? are you going to be recording lots of vocal traks ? do you want to record with others ? which might mean more inputs needed. what are your needs songwise ? then we can advise further.
best muso

ROB HELMS - thanks so much for the note back. Actually it is the other way around. Reaper is set to 48 and BIAB is set to 41. I tried setting the BIAB to 48, but no luck. I will go get that PreSonus interface to see if that makes a difference.
JUSTANOLDMUSO - Thank you for the link to the other post - I will definitely spend some time on that one.
As for your excellent questions - in marketing parlay we call them "strategic objectives" :-) : let us all know what your song goals are ?? I've been performing live like most of you for at least 40 years. It's how I paid for college way back when. I've been using BIAB since 2010 and early on it was and still is to just augment recordings of my own material. It's starting to expand more as I begin to create music projects for others.
are you going to be recording lots of vocal traks ? No, when I start expanding and recording my friends, it will usually be between 2-3 vocal tracks. At most it will be 2 to 6 tracks total, but that would be rare.
do you want to record with others ? which might mean more inputs needed. - I have a Behringer board with USB interface and was going to use that when I needed to record more than two tracks at a time.
PIPELINE - Great questions, hopefully I can give the correct answers to match.

No - not even seeing the BIAB GUI. I can select it as an option, but it never loads.

No - I haven't - great idea. I will try that option.

Yeah - it's there.

I have my BIAB running off my D Drive and everything else running off my C Drive. THIS MIGHT BE THE FLY IN THE OINTMENT - since I'm running my BIAB off my D Drive, and everything else off my C drive. Hopefully I'm not royally screwed.
Here is the current contents of that file: C:\Users\Public\Ticket\Band-in-a-Box DAW Plugin Folder Locations.txt
EVERYONE - I can't begin to tell you how appreciative I am with the help you're providing. Hopefully I will ge4t to a point where I can also chip in and help others. But you guys are light years ahead of me with technical acumen. So thank you for being so kind, helpful, and generous with your knowledge.
EXCELLENT - LET ME TRY THAT! I'm in the middle of sewing protective covers for my floor monitors (yes, I'm a dude that sews) so they don't get dinged up as much transporting to gigs.
So as soon as I finish that I will try it the way you have shown. That REALLY helps and I wasn't doing it like that.
Try dragging all of them, VST2 and VST3 FX and Instrument and see if they all do the same. Try and drag out of D:\bb\BBPlugin\Files also What version are you using ? have you got the latest 3.4.4
Try create a folder on C:\bb then copy everything inside D:\bb except Drums and RealTracks folder to C:\bb now set C:\Users\Public\Ticket\Band-in-a-Box DAW Plugin Folder Locations.txt BBLocation=C:\bb\ RealTracksLocation=D:\bb\RealTracks\ DrumsLocation=D:\bb\Drums\ SavedTracksLocation=C:\bb\BBPlugin\SavedTracks\
The BBPlugin should only use C:\bbw4_64.exe and C:\Data\libx64 and C:\bb\Preferences
OMG, you are still at it. It can't be that hard. By the way I have nothing on C:\ except the VSTi3 .dll. All of BIAB is on F:\. Did I see a Soundblaster sound card? That has to be from the 90's. Does that work with all you other sound apps? The drivers for that card have to be the root problem. But what do I know.
Can you borrow a USB audio device from a friend to try plugging it in? One more thing, I stopped using WAS a long time ago. It was nothing but problems. Either use MME or get a decent ASIO which will come with your new sound device.
I just noticed the name of the folder is "BandInABox" rather than "bb" and the data folder the BBPlugin uses is in lowercase rather than Data, I posted a pic below of what should be in the Data folder.

That is what I was getting at. It’s not that BiaB and reaper are using the same settings. It is that the sound blaster card is running at 48,000 sample rate, and if reaper and BiaB are not the same there may be a conflict. I also expect that the age of the driver as Dan said May be a problem.
I’m not 100% sure but the plugin looks back at the BiaB folder which may take into consideration the BiaB settings.
As pipeline mentioned the folder may be named improperly.
All of this is important. If you want it to work properly then you need to make sure everything is right.
Lenovo Win 10 16 gig ram, Mac mini with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2024, Realband, Reaper, Harrison Mixbus 32c , Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app, Komplete 49 key controller.
Hey everyone - thanks for all the input and ideas on where to look to get it fixed.
I had to step away from working with it for a while since I was getting frustrated trying to find the hitch in the giddyup. But I will be back at it this weekend and I'll let you know if I fix it or not.
I hope you managed to get your problem sorted out Jim. I'm very grateful for this thread. It has convinced me never to attempt this journey! (import from b-i-a-b to Reaper via this tool).
