Your arrangement sounds just right.

Glad I was able to find lyrics that fit! smile

The vocaloid? I admit I would prefer to hear a warm human voice having fun with this, but you do very convincing work with these AI singers!

I hear you. I'm going to stick with this process for a while, and then re-evaluate whether any of the songs are worth doing with new vocals.

But for now, it's keeping me on track - even when allergies hit hard.

Thanks for stopping to comment!

"The same old thing makes a perfect day "

That is a fav out of a great write.

The band is excellent as is the mix.

We felt the strongest aspect of the vocals was the harmony.
It's really well done. Technically the two of us know little
about harmony but years in a bluegrass band taught us
to recognize when it is right.

And your backstories are worth the price of admission smile

Very impressive. I especially like the harmony vocals that are echoing the lead.

I could tell there was something synthetic with the voice but it didn't sound like a vocaloid I've heard before.

So is that synthV like a vocorder where you sing and it effects the voice? It was kind of difficult to understand the website on this phone.

So much to like about the song and it's evident the work you have put into it.

Your narritive on the writing was as much fun as listening to the song itself. I can relate to the inner turmoil and struggle with writing something that is coherent, interesting, and makes sense. Certainly not an easy thing to do. And like you said... I get inspiration from the strangest of places and situations.

Well, if it makes you feel better, there wasn't a whole lot of theory behind the writing of the harmony. I mean, I know the notes of the chord and all that, but it was mostly the same as you'd do it - I'd hear in my head what I wanted, and then shift the notes in the editor until they "sounded right".

Hi, Herb.

The harmony is the fun bit. It's not something I sing well, so I having the synthesized voice do it gives me more free rein to not worry about how hard it is to sing. Normally I've got to pitch correct the heck out of my harmony parts.

You can thing of SynthV as a Vocaloid, but put out by a different company and using different algorithms to reconstruct the vocals. I think it sounds a lot better than the English Vocaloids that I've heard, and it's certainly much cheaper. You can download and use the "basic" version for free.

Unfortunately, there's only one English voice that's available for it, Eleanor Forte. The main market is for Chinese and Japanese voices, so those voices have a few more features than Eleanor Forte. But I think the free voice is much better than the English voices I've used with Vocaloid. It has less weird artifacts and sounds more realistic. With the non-free editor, there's an option to use alternative versions of phonemes, which is also really helpful in getting it to sound right.

The SynthV website is a bit confusing to use, but if you're interested in trying the program out and run into any trouble, feel free to send me a message.

Thanks! It's probably the most "song" like one I've done so far this year.

Thanks again for stopping to comment. smile

First of all, what a great creation story in your Blah-Bitty part, David. I really like hearing what others go through to come up with the magic. And, man, you created magic with this one. It's amazing how much you put into the final production, and how perfect everything plays its part in the mix.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Enjoyed the novel (I mean, the song description) and the song. Yes indeed, drama in a relationship sucks. That's why I strive for comedy. Great band playing this indie-spirited number. Superb harmonies and progression.

Hi dcuny,

The arrangement is superb. Well-written lyrics. You managed to give a lot of intonations to this voice. I find the choruses very well done. Good work.

That was one good song. A very engaging melody. I loved the instrumentation. Is it my imagination, or does the AI voice have a lisp?

My wife and I just started watching Hinterland last week, and we are really into it.

Nice to read lyrics written in the story form telling about one day. "Glad that life is finally so boring and ordinary" well put smile. I like the story (including the backstory) and how the sunny band and the arrangement supports its dramaless mood. Good work with the vocals, harmony and the counter-melody parts also, it takes a lot work.

My only tiny complaint is that I was hoping the cat would have the last word like in the movie Ladykillers, but maybe he gets a bigger part in your next song laugh

Really interesting chord changes and melody. Beautiful and it really isn't defined by any genre. Nice work.

Hi, Marty.

Thanks! I think this is the first song I've written this year that sounds like a song, if that makes sense. But there's still a lot left to figure out.

I appreciate that.

Some of my favorite songs manage to walk the balance between tongue in cheek and heart-breakingly sentimental. I wish I could figure out how to that trick!

Thanks for the nice words! smile

Yeah, if I've learned anything by these songs - which is always debatable wink - it's that it's important to have good drum tracks!

I hope you've been enjoying the lovely weather that we've been having.

I was in Davis the other month to pick up a video game controller for my son. The Craigslist guy never got back to us, but we stopped by Trader Joe's and got some delicious cheese, so it wasn't a total bust. smile

Not your imagination at all. You can actually split the output into two channels - the "voiced" and the "unvoiced" portion. I went a bit overboard editing down silibance, so I'll go back and boost that channel a bit more.

My daughter gave up watching television shows for Lent. Now that's over, but Netflix has pulled The Republic of Doyle before she could start watching it, so she's bummed. And they won't be picking up Season 4 of Wynonna Earp.

I guess you need to binge watch shows before they're pulled. cry
