Its a Cool Morning

It was 95F (35C) one day then 58F (14C) the next morning, thus a cool morning. I thought I would try some cool jazz.

BiaB style - Jazz at T=60 = Slow Jazz
Tempo = 60

Bass - MIDI Super Track = 1916:Bass, Acoustic, Jazz, Sw 085 - Ample bass - preset = Upright bass

Piano = MIDI Super Track - 2071:Piano, Rhythm ModermJazzBallad SW 060- Waves Grand Rhapsody

Guitar - Kontakt - Jazz Guitar

Drums = Steven Slate SSD-5 - Deluxe Jazz brushes

Me via my wind controller - Swam Trumpet and Swam Tenor Sax

FX = Raum reverb on all but upright bass and kick drum

Presonus compressor on upright and rhythm guitars

The drums were placed on separate track with all of the cymbals getting CLA Drums - preset - overhead mics while all of the drums getting different CLA drums for each, i.e. snare, toms, and kick.

Tub Saturator Vintage on the master.

Let me know what you think.

Another fantastic instrumental. It certainly has a quality to it that makes me think about the colder months, so I think the title you chose is quite fitting! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mario, very nice melody, maybe bring a little to the front the trumpet at the beguining. Other than that terrific tune.

Mario,

This is excellent... You need to make a "cool jazz" album. This would be a great Side B opening track.

Well, Mario, we don't have cool mornings these days, so that cool breeze was very welcome.
All instruments sound excellent.

Cool - what else...?

Stefan

My kind of jazz, you played the changes well, a real pleasure to listen to. Love that wind controller.

Thanx everyone for listening and commenting on this song that was based on the cool jazz era of Miles, Coltrane, etc. I appreciate all of those comments.

Patrick, I use an Akai EWI-USB wind controller:

Mario,

Nice arrangement, so easy to sink into and enjoy—even for a non-jazz guy like me. Quite the clarity in the production—each instrument clearly heard, working together hand in hand. Really impressive in that regard. Great work!

All my best,

Deej

Hello Mario,

The song sounds so clear. Very good! It is like Deej wrote, all instruments can be heard well. That is a very good achievement in a song with many instruments. For my taste the song was a bit to slow, but as I said, it's a matter of taste.
I really enjoyed it,

Hans

Howdy Mario....

You've certainly cornered this late-night-jazz-club genre.
Especially, with your wind controller work.

I felt I was sitting in a jazz club at 01:15 looking at the remains of my watery drink knowing I need to get my last order in before for the last call.

Even though I would mix it a bit differently that's not a crit at all.
Moody, easy listening....I like it.
Well done.

Have a great weekend....

It's a hot morning here in VA. I'm drenched with perspiration after a morning walk. I am cooling down with a listen to your piece. Very nice and soothing. I've just been looking into the wind controllers, and it seems they come with brass fingerings, which is good because I'm a trumpet player. I don't think this old dog could learn the trick of woodwind fingerings. I enjoyed the song. Another masterful Mario composition.
