Hi, all:

Here’s a tune I’ve had hanging around a bit that finally clicked to some degree—at least well enough to share. Just a simple falling in love song. Hope you enjoy the listen!

Here’s the song:

A GIRL TO LOVE

Here are the lyrics:

Under the blue lights
I held you tight the music played
Feeling so right
Alone among the crowd we swayed
And in my bones something told me I’m saved
That I’m a guy with a girl to love

And after the dance
We took the long way home
Holding hands, making plans
all along the starlit road
Then on your porch swing I sat by your side
Thinking I’m a guy with a girl to love

I saw your Mom peek
From under the sash
From her room
From behind your Dad
Stepped in and pulled her back
Could he tell from the look
And the smile in my eyes
That I’m a guy with a girl to love

And in the moonlight
I could hear my heartbeat skip
Throughout my whole life
I will always remember this
How from the spark of our very first kiss
I knew I’m a guy with a girl to love

If I call you later
will you pick up the phone
Because I can’t wait
until tomorrow to let you know
You’d rock my world, babe, if you were my girl
And if I was the guy you love

And here’s the band:

Superb. You're on a roll. Carry on :-)

One can just visualise the scene you paint. Musical arrangement is spot-on. Your voice is darker in tone, somehow ... deeper, perhaps. Love its timbre. The song tells the story.

Please carry on, seriously. When you're in the zone, I've already said this, no-one's close. And here you're definitely in the zone. Simple song, you say? Perhaps. But brilliantly done. So carry on - you get even better with each song, if - as here - you stay true to yourself and write about what you want to write about (when don't you? haha!!!) :-)

Nice romantic story. Enjoyed the chord progression and the catchy melody. The acoustic guitar solo works very well. Excellent vocals once again, I like those backing lalas smile
If I had to change something, I would change the title to A Guy With A Girl To Love, because the song is more about the guy than the girl.

I agree with David, this is radio ready.

Two thumbs up.

just an idea.
how bout doubling the vocs in places,,?
eg "i saw your mom peek etc"
seriously ...vocal doubling can be a very powerfull technique in
song arrangement.
nice lyrics and i particularly like how the arrangement simplifies around 2m36 secs for a short time span.
thats excellent song contrasting...then it gets going again.
i also liked the ending. excellent vocs emotion in the ending.
at the ending i have this feeling , if a live scenario , of the audience all swaying to/fro with glow sticks.

well done.

Great work, Deej, a sweet, poignant song and of course, the most distinctive vocal on the forum. Fantastic listen(s).

A masterful write, Deej. You already know how I'm such a big fan of your voice, so I won't say it again. Well, maybe... great vocal!! Perfect instrumentation and fun changes and dynamics.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Deej,

A nice Pop song. The hook/title really sticks in your head (as a good Pop song should).

The simple production suits it well. Good vocal. Nice mix.

Really well done Deej,
the arrangement really carries the melody well.
Your vocals is fabulous.
The kick drum isn't right for the arrangement to my ears...all click and no thud.
It's really hard to EQ a RealDrum track to change that but it can be done.
Terrific song.

Cheers

Great vocal and lyric indeed.

Super standout here is the melody ... superb.

It's impressive how you used all those acoustic guitars to create such a cohesive sound.

Well done!

Hi Deej,

Again a very nice song. Sang wonderfully sensitive. What girl wouldn't fall in love with a man with such voice!
And your use of this musical accompaniment is very good. Easy going and with a smile on your face... (that's what happend to me after listening.

Cheers,
Hans

Deej,
Ohh yes, "clicked" pretty well smile
Excellent indie folk rock tune! Fantastic vocals, lyrics and production! Good one!
Thank you for sharing.

Misha.

P.S. The only thing is that I feel your posted tunes are a bit compressed, but I am fairly sure they are not in reality. Similar happened to me when I uploaded 256k mp3s to soundcloud. When I switched to uploading WAVs, tunes sounded better. Of course if you are uploading lesser quality files on purpose, that is fully understandable.

Deej,

I love your music, and this is my new favorite.

As J&B said, this is a standout melody.

Exceptional vocal performance.

You've added the right instrumentation without overdoing it.

Love the BGV at the end.

Yes, everything clicked!!!
