Hi all,
David Lekich (Deej56) is a very talented writer, composer and singer.
This song confirms it again.
Thanks to him to highlight my music so well.

https://soundcloud.com/christian-devienne/the-sweet-ever-after

She kills the lights and locks the door
Then ghosts across the hardwood floor
Up the stairs into her room
Where he’s not sleeping anymore
She turns the sheets and cold to bed
A wish for dreams inside her head
A place she knows that sometime soon
She’ll be there with him instead
In the sweet ever after

She whispers “Goodnight, my love”
Tries a smile then never does
A promise made, hope to bloom
A prayer for what will be and was
But in her mind there lies a shade
The empty silence that was made
Her call unanswered in the gloom
Doubts just echo there and fade

Morning comes like mornings do
Escapes the blind and streams right through
The sunlight strikes her waking eyes
To chase the last of dreams from view
Puts on her robe, she goes downstairs
And settles in the kitchen chair
And somehow knows someday somewhere
Whatever comes, he’s waiting there
In the sweet ever after

You sure picked the best talent for this masterpiece, Chris. Deej is definitely one of my favorites. This song has a Bacharach/David brilliance to it. Excellent changes and well mixed.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Lovely piece of music. Deej's vocal was perfect for the backtrack. Super collaboration.

Another excellent collaboration. Enjoyed the beautiful chord progression which settles the ghostly landscape. Very dark lyrics describe the main character very vividly. I like the dry mix and the vocal sound. The vocals are really powerful, sounds like very hard to sing, but David manages it perfectly, "the sweet ever after" part has pure magic.

Melancholy music and lyrics so expertly performed. I like the instrumentation choices for your composition.

Thanks Scott,
It's not always easy to find an osmosis between the music, the lyrics and the performance. I think it seems to be the case with this song.
