So, I have been having a blast learning to play the piano and this is my second piano tune. I am playing both parts and am really enjoying what the piano can do. Who knew!

Yeah I'm looking at you Floyd! I got something to prove! Oh heck yeah. Come on!

Remains of the Day
by David Snyder

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs3/remains-of-the-day

V1

It remains to be seen
If you and I will be alive
this time and place in another year
So we're just living for today
Cause we don't see another way
To overcome a world that’s based in fear

PC

But we will not
Surrender yet and
We will not
Soon forget
All the dreams we had
Along the way
And we will not accept these chains
When we dream of hope
Through window panes
At the remains
The remains of the day

CH

So bang the drum and sing it loud
Raise the torch in the crowd
And if you can, then lead the way
Yeah bang the drum in the setting sun
They must remember what we've done
As we save whatever's left of this for us
In the remains of the day

V2

It remains to be seen
If you and I will still survive
but hey we know we're not the only ones
wise women say believe your eyes
truth is what you recognize
and I'd rather stay and fight than I would run

PC

So we will not
Surrender yet and
We will not
Soon forget
All the dreams we had
Along the way
And we will not accept these chains
When we dream of hope
Through window panes
At the remains
The remains of the day

CH

David,

Brilliant, just brilliant write . . . and beautifully delivered. Loved my listen. Yes, as TuneMonger mentioned, a very early Bruce feel to it, but in the end all you. Exceptional tune!

And, BTW, I'm a bit jealous--I'd love to learn piano, but don't think I could ever quite master it. Congrats on taking that on and clearly excelling at it.

All my best,

Deej

Very powerful and positive lyrics delivered in a strong stadion rocker style, nice live feel. Learning to play the piano has paid off, talent can be heard. The band also work well, especially the drums.

David,

Love it!

Well written.

Excellent vocal.

Nice job on the piano. Is the piano from a VST or a physical keyboard? (what is it?)

Really nice arrangement. Solid mix.

A song that begs to be heard many times.

Hey thanks Dan! I really appreciate the kind words.

I have been trying my hand at some early Elton John and it kind of gets into your blood.

Syncopation is where it's at man.

I am with Herb on this one David. As much as I love your guitar playing. You did a great job on the piano. What a super vocal and lyric. They were both the star of the show. Well done.

Nice anthem. Inspiring!

Good job on the piano. It's a lot easier on the fingers than the guitar, innit?

But it was really the vocal that sold it - well done. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Ah, proof positive. Man, what a strong and vibrant song. Great passionate vocal. I love this line "truth is what you recognize." Very engaging sound. Oh, and, yes, your piano playing is really a HUGE addition, David.

Enjoy whatever happens!

David,

Nice ballad.
And it's very brilliant.
I think it's the power of vocals and arrangements.
I agree with Janne.

Banging out the chords works... the massive potential of 10 notes in harmony is scary.
I really like the more syncopated bridge part/prechorus or what ever it is.

Cheers
