Thanx for posting this video. I had not seen this one. I picked up a couple of new techniques myself!

Glad I could help you.

Unclear if the pianist is a total beginner or a professional jazz player?

Generally when harmonizing, if you want a lower part, and the melody note is not a member of the chord you are playing, skip the chord note under the melody and play/sing the chord note under that.

It's not a universal rule, it's the simplest. You may want something different, but it will work in most situations.

I believe he wants to find the third of the melody note he has sung so that he can do Beatlesque harmonies BUT also wants to hear the notes so he can sing them.
Mario's suggestion is the quickest work around as a) Melodyne will achieve a decent result of it's own accord and b) the results could be used as the template to sing along to as desired BBBUUTTT if the fellow can't work out thirds for himself them using the harmonizer and singing along to that, as mentioned, is the next best thing.
Then again he could work out a counter melody type harmony based on the chord tones but I doubt that's an option.

In RB he can generate the harmony as I suggested above. He can hear it and singalong. Dead easy in RB. I don't use BIAB much but surely it's just as simple?

It’s marked “resolved” now, so everyone can stand down.

it may be resolved but i'm still not sure why the OP posted it in the first place. if we got it right about learning to sing a harmony then he's still unsure of basic BIAB and RB functions as well as simple music theory.

and after all this time he's been posting in the forum that's a little depressing.
