That is some sweet tickling of the keys.
Is that you or did you arrange the RT in that song?

Either way it is fantastic.

Thanks, Mario. I've been taking piano lessons from the retired lady next door....

....seriously, though, that is 85STY-Bent Piano Real track by John Jarvis. I think Brent Mason is in on that one, too. John Jarvis is the amazing. It seems that he knows his country swing so well that his riffs, when assembled, flow together and knit their own melody. There appear to be perceptible qualitative signatures of the individual measures of, say, his 12 or 16 bar compositions, be it the 3rd bar of the 4th line or the 4th bar of the 4th line, and so on. It is that intentionality that seems to set him apart. I can't really explain it that well, but after working with Bent Piano for so long, I have come to recognize what's going on and make an effort to, basically, accompany John's lines.

Cool. Loved the backing tracks for sure. I was waiting to hear the melody of this classic hymn. It never became apparent....so I started it over and hummed along with where I expected it to be and it fit. This would make a great track for a singer to use in the church for a solo in the special music part of the service.

Thanks, Herb. Yes, you got it. I had hoped not to go off the deep end with that explanation; so, I'm gratified that you picked up what I was getting at. Now, can it be repeated?
(or was it a one-trick pony?)

Is too little to say that it just sounds right? I mean, there isn't a thing I would change. I really enjoyed it all the way around.

Thanks, Floyd and thanks, HeretoLearn.
Last i heard, John Jarvis was living in Tahoe, Nevada. I always thought of him as a Nashville studio and/or touring pianist. He's got that Floyd Kramer sound down to a tee, hey?
I'm eager to dig into any JJ Real Tracks BIAB 2022 might have added.

That is very nice Ed.

Janice commented on how much her piano playing mother would have liked it.

Yep, John is the man. We have used a LOT of his MST tracks.

Well done!

This is SO beautiful! Wow!!! Thank you so much for sharing. I don't know the hymn at all, so I'm listening with completely fresh ears. It's a joy to hear, the way you've arranged it. Thanks again.

Thanks, James. I've heard the hymn performed in a couple of memorable ways. It may be sung in a way that brings out a relaxing, almost hypnotic feel. Then, with a little more drive, it can move towards the congregational or choir form. Don't know much about the authors, though they were later 19th century, a little late to be in the most popular hymn books. I was mesmerized by the vocalist when I last heard it.
