Hello, forum friends

Recently I got the software called SpectraLayers Pro 8 from Steinberg.
The software can un-mix stereo sound sources into 5 tracks (Vocal, Piano, Bass, Drums, and others.)
So, this time I tried to make an experimental music production using it.
I extracted vocal tracks and guitar solos from the stereo sound source recorded over 10 years ago, and added new accompaniment using RealTracks to them.
There is a little noise in the vocals, but please understand that it was generated in the above process.
Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Summary of lyrics

You started to go after saying "I’ll walk you home"
Your back is a bit higher
The city in the late night is very quiet
You look back with a gentle smile when I call your name
But your gentle eyes seem farther
Than the stars of the galaxy

I have felt that your heart wouldn't move from that day
Someone is waiting for you somewhere
And you always get back there
Though I wish I will be with you
I can’t do anything but cry
When I think of our uncertain future

The night breeze of May touches my cheeks gently
I wish I could be as gentle as the breeze

However I still want to walk with you
I swallow the words I would like to tell you
I just smile to you instead
I hid my wishes in the wind
In the wind

Shigeki Adachi,

A beautiful Pop song.

Yoko's vocal is nice (as always). Cannot tell that it was extracted from a previous recording. The guitar solo sounds good too.

Very nice strings.

Good mix.

It is amazing what you did here, an old vocal extracted and placed into a modern setting. Absolutely astonishing!

Great vocal

You have fantastic arranging skills

Super sounding strings

Perfect mix

Loved it

"I extracted vocal tracks and guitar solos from the stereo sound source recorded over 10 years ago, and added new accompaniment using RealTracks to them."

Isn't it cool being able to do that? It's like an old stereo cassette recording is turned into a 4-track master. (I also use SpectraLayers for that kind of thing.)

Pretty song! The vocal is - of course - excellent.

Like all your songs, I like this one a lot! laugh

There are some great string lines here! The extended run starting at 1:50 is cool, as is the bit starting at 2:11. It might be cool if that bit at 2:11 was split between the left and right speakers, but that would call attention away from the vocals, so I guess not.

I like the re-entrance of the strings at 0:50 - the sound really nice in the middle register.

OK, this is me being really picky here...

Some of the fricatives in the vocals could be tamed a bit, near the beginning of the song. Not a big deal.

I wish the strings had a bit more bite to them - they're so smooth they sound synthetic. They obviously are, but I shouldn't notice that, right? wink

I was hoping for perhaps a bigger change in the instrumentation on one of the verses, even though there's a guitar solo. I don't have any good suggestions what you should do instead, though. Because what you've got is very nice. smile

There are a few places where the vocal is a bit pitchy. My first impulse is to Auto-Tune vocals to death, so not "fixing" the vocal is probably the right choice. laugh

My only real complaint is the drums. They're repetitive in a way a real drummer isn't. Having the drummer keep the same beat for so long made it feel a bit too mechanical. At the end of the song - after the final drum fill - my son looked up from icing a cake and said "That's such a Band in a Box ending."

But it's fine just the way it is - a very lovely song I enjoyed listening to multiple times!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Excellent job. Everything meshes brilliantly.
The style reminds me of the songs I hear frequently on the K-romantic dramas I watch these days.
More please!

Brilliant vocal quality. Yoko shines, always.

Exceptional musical arrangement and associated quality.

This is remarkable that such a beautiful song has be resurrected after such a long time.

Beautiful melody sung delicately, sweet emotions have not disappeared in the process. Enjoyed the chord progression. Wonderful work with the strings, giving the song very light spring mood which is nicely expressed also in the romantic lyrics: "The night breeze of May touches my cheeks gently."

floyd,

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
I am really glad you like this tune, Yoko's vocal and the Guitar solo performed by Yamaha teacher.
The sound technology these days is really remarkable, and I'm happy that it's still incomplete but practical.
I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Best regards.
