My Blue Heaven

Hi Folks,

Here's my version of the classic "My Blue Heaven" by Walter Donaldson and George A Whiting. I had to look up the copyright laws for this song and found that (you probably know this already) in most countries Copyright ends 50 years after the death of the composers. However some countries notably the USA and Australia have extended this to 70 years. The longest is Mexico with 100 years.

My version is in the Western Swing style made famous by Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys and other bands.

Band In A Box Real Tracks used in this song are:
Bass: 540
Guitar: 1710
Drums: NashvilleSwing^3
Drums: JazzBrushes#1
Piano: 1615
Guitar: 1128
Pedal Steel: 1134
Pedal Steel: 1675

Nigel

Superb use of the RT's - liked where the backing drops and the soloists play.

Excellent vocal and a very engaging well arranged version of a classic song.

Hi, Nigel. There's a curious 2 beat missing on the snare at 0:16, Once passed that this is really well done. What a cool upbeat version. Cool stops for the solos. I'm guessin that's you on that amazing piano. That carries the whole song in a groovy pocket. Of course your voice shows a lifetime of experiences with great tone.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Very cool song. Instrumentation was excellent. A hint of the 20's and then a current feel as well. Super vocal. Mix was excellent as well.

Hi Nigel ...

I've always loved this song. When I first started playing out professionally back in the early 60s a played behind my father's vocals, and the rest
of the band.

Man, this thinks just rocks right a long - loved it from beginning to end. Loved the way you started the instruments with the breaks. This just so good. Oh, your vocal suits this so nicely.

Terrific version... I always loved this song... Everything sounds good, but I think a jazzier drum track might work better... Love the Vocal.

A good vocal performance and arrangement too other than the drums which seem too modern, too far forward - almost grafted onto an older recording.

Nigel,

Very nice country swing!
Great vocal.
"My Blue Heaven" was very popular also in Japan before I was born.
I think the country and swing are really well blended.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Hello Nigel,

It was no surprise for me you made a wonderful arrangement of this very nice song.
And why not? Because all your songs have that high quality, so this one couldn't be less. And it didn't!
You made it sound like one of your own songs. And sung with joy, I heard.

I enjoyed it a lot!

Hans

I love this song. I grew up listening to Western Swing, and classic Country. I love the steel guitars that BIAB has to select from. I know from experience that this was Paul Franklin (Vince Gill's) steel playing!! I was kinda curious why the ending ended in a different key!!

Great vocal - one of my favorite songs also

Nice dynamics and great solos

Loved it

Unclear if the pianist is a total beginner or a professional jazz player?

This rendition of a classic standard poses a serious risk of becoming my favorite version. Well done, Nigel.
