Bravo. Enjoyed the translation, but wanted to listen without it, so ...

Solid, solid write. Well done!

Excellent tune Hans. Loved the backtrack and syncopated guitars. Super vocal. Harmonies were excellent as well. Really liked how you mixed in the drums. Cool kick and snare. Well done

Excellent song, Hans. Really drives along. Nice band choices. Your vocal sounds really good in Dutch. I listen to a lot of music sung in languages I don't understand, by the way, which I enjoy, - if in a subtly different way - just as much as songs in English (sadly the only language I do understand). Sometimes I think it even adds to the experience. One concentrates more on the sound and the emotion in a singer's voice, rather than being distracted by the lyrics.
Regards,
Leon

Hi Torrey, Rob and Anne-Marie, Ray and Deej,

I received very nice posts from you and am very glad with them. There was not even one nasty post so I consider myself a very lucky guy.
On the other hand, you are always friendly to me on this forum. Even if I'm late with my replies (like now).

Great work!

Thanks, Torrey

Hi Torrey, to Mario I replied with a 'Wow' because of his comment. For you the same. What a nice comment! I didn't expect these kind of comment on a Dutch song from an American!

Hoi Anne-Marie, thanks very much for the compliment, especially about the chorus. I knew you were working on your English tour, so I didn't dare asking for your help on the bg's. In the first line of the lyrics I made a joke for the Dutchies; the Lindenlaan (avenue) was from (in Dutch); Liesje leerde Lotje lopen langs de lange Lindenlaan. A famous Dutch phrase to break your tongue on with all the L's. I only took the lane-part.

Your vocal sounds solid, confident and free from too much processing.
I didn't read the lyrics - preferring to listen to the sounds of the words - they sound good.
Terrific effort Hans, I enjoyed it.

Hi there Ray, I think the distance was there because I walked through a long Lindenlane or avenue. If you had read the lyrics you would have known...
But a bit more serious; I didn't hear it. I thought I sang that phrase too weak. Soon after that I sang better. But I didn't want to correct it. Thanks for your nice comment, Ray.

Translations are always tricky, but the write it solid. And, MAN, that instrumental break starting at 2:08, absolutely brilliant. I always find it hard to turn from a full band to a single instrument—as you did with the acoustic guitar at that point. It was seamless—very impressed!

Cheers!
Deej

Hi Deej, even my sons often say they don't understand a word of what I am talking about. Unless it's about money or lending the car.
And you're close to a 'wow' with your comparison to Al Stewart! And yes, you are right on translations; they are never equal to the original lyrics. But in this case the lyrics were not complicated. The first lyrics (that I finally threw away) would have been far more complicated. I have a few more songs were I have the kind of break you mentioned. I like that effect, but you are right, it's not so easy.

Well, the weekend has arrived. A lot of people have talked me into having a bbq party. This time I said yes, but I never think of it as a 'party'. It's hard work. If you have the same experience you know what I mean, but nevertheless,

Have a nice weekend,
Hans
