Hi Folks.
Here is my new tune. I tried to cross breed a few styles, mainly Tango and Bossa. Lyrically not very challenging, and perhaps rudimental, as I was mostly after the form. All comments, especially critical ones, are welcomed. Thank you for giving this time.

Through Your Heart

Lyrics:

A broken mirror - reflection of time
from the bronze age savage to modern day politician
From the bread baker, to prison guard to rocket pilot
From all those who tried to tame destiny

But she is deaf to confessions
She is cold as a moon
she knows all your passions
piercing your heart with harpoon

Like a broken record - repetitive cycle
from the tribal clashes to modern warfare
Pharos, comrades, commadantes,
Moghuls, monarchs, kings and sultans
All those who tried to rule the world.

Love is blind to concessions
love will twist like typhoon
love knows all secrets
piercing your heart with harpoon
striking your heart with harpoon

"(Love is) Piercing your heart with harpoon..."

I like that phrase. That stimulates one's imagination!
What a wonderful song you made (again), Misha. I wouldn't call it 'pop', it's more Latin like.
Combined with your 'sinister' vocals you made it a genuine Rustyspoon song: a story with a captivating melody.
As always a lot of things happen in your song(s). That makes it so nice listening to.

I'm happy I did,
Hans

Misha

The genre crossing mix of this song really works for me! I love the vocals in this...the octave parts are very effective! There is so much happening in this with all the instrumentation, that's hard to grasp it all! This one really grabs the listener's attention!

Thanks, Torrey

Very cool, Misha. Nothing critical from me, I like the mix of styles, sounds great.

What processing are you using on the RealDrum tracks if you don't mind my asking?

Sorry, Misha. I'm not fully qualified to give you a critical critique of this beauty. So let me tell you what I like. This is super cool, man. I LOVE that beat you came up with merging genres. Instruments are perfectly selected and mixed. Yeah, the mix ix perfect. There is so much goodness in there and yet you manage to let each piece shine through. Oh, wait... Here's a crit --turn up the bass. The bass drives a song like this. Your lyrics are always so very creative and, like Hans said, makes you think.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Misha,
short & bitter sweet.
The imagery from the lyrics is excellent.
The paired vocals are really effective.
Excellent.

Cheers

Very nice piece of music Misha. This is probably my favorite of all of yours I've heard. The mix is great and sounds very professional. Loved your ideas of mixing those genres. Sorry, I have a hard time coming up with any negative critique. About the only thing I can come up with is that I disagree with your comment about "Rudimentary lyrics." I thought they were great. Loved the intro to the song especially, both music and lyrically. "Broken mirror - reflection of time" had me hooked right from the start. Fantastic.

Misha,

You always have a creative and inspiring approach to music-writing—and there’s a lot to like here. I really like the write on the chorus in particular, and the background vocals in that chorus are so well done. Your ability to mesh all these sounds to create something unique is impressive. Terrific mash up!

All my best,

Deej

Torrey,

Dave,
Thank you for your support. Drums are a mix of BIAB and Groove Agent (Steinberg). I liked vintage 808 feel of Groove Agent drums, so I tried to blend acoustic BIAB drums and GA synt drums using EQ and multiband compressor.
---
Marty,
Thank you for giving this time, your positive words AND suggestion!! You are 100% right. I mix in a very neutral headphones and bass is very "flat" on them, so I guesstimate level.

Cool groove Misha. Very cool to mix the accordion into the genres of the song. Boy did that give it a cool sound. Super vocal and production was first class

Misha,

Loved it.

"rudimental" lyric. HA! that is the last word I'd ever use to describe them. Interesting, unique, original might start my list.

Good melody, too.

Excellent use of BIAB. The drum tracks are a delight.

A very solid mix.

I'd call it "Top Notch".

An excellent Misha-mash of styles! Very catchy melody with instrumental changes that surprise- in a good way.
There`s always a mix of light play and darker undertones in your vocals-they are perfectly captured here... oh, and the lyrics are great too!

Indeed.

This is a great style mashup (you are a master at that) and we felt like we had been transported to a Gypsy campfire.
Even with no Gypsy jazz tracks it somehow conveyed that vibe to us.

Great mix ... particularly given the number of tracks.

Enjoyed it!

Love this, Misha. Rudimentary lyrics? I don't think so. The tango accordion reminded me of Grace Jones' version of the Libertango (I've seen that face before), a track I listened to on high rotation after first hearing it many years ago. Great stuff.
Regards,
Leon
