It's All Gone This was originally written as an assignment for a Coursera arrangement class. Later it became a track on my album, which examined the Trump presidency from afar.

To those I added vocals, my own bass part using Ample bass, and an accordion track from Kontakt. It seems I also added a pad from Kontakt, but I can’t hear it on the finished track.
I put the track together in Logic Pro.
There weren’t a lot of effects. I used Logic’s Chromaverb on the guitar solo. I used Space D reverb on the drums. I used Silververb on the vocals and liberally applied Melodyne so it sounds like I was singing in tune. I mastered the track using Ozone 8.
One interesting note — the guitar solo was created by rendering out six guitar solos from Band-in-a-Box, and then comping the final solo out of those six tracks in Logic.
Lyrics
Coal jobs are gone
Dried up and blew away
Life blood of this town
Turned the hillsides brown
There’s not a lot that’s left today
Walmart is gone
Shut the doors for good last May
Like a scene from hell
It’s a hollow shell
Just like the dreams we can’t remember anyway
You'd think this is something we deserve
Two hundred years we've worked this land
It's a way of life straight from our granddad's hand
And who’s the one that took it all away
Coal jobs are gone
Some say that hope awaits
In the hands of a man
In a bright red hat
Who has the secret that will make it all OK
