A change of pace. Blame Floyd for his last song. It got me all worked up.

Don't Blame Me When I Fall

By David Snyder

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs3/dont-blame-me-when-i-fall

V1

I’d like to talk to the man upstairs
Yeah I would like to have a word
Few things about my life round here
Well, they seem a bit absurd
I didn’t ask to come here
No I didn’t volunteer
I didn’t ask for so many rules and worries
And so many reasons to shed a tear

Pre CH

I didn’t make nothing round here
I didn’t make nothing at all

CH

So don’t blame me for gravity, don’t blame me for tragedy
Don’t blame me for whiskey when I make it to last call
Don’t blame me for drinking it, cause God, you know I need it
And most of all, sir, if you please
Don’t blame me
Don’t blame me when I fall

V2

And don’t blame me
For missing her
Cause it hurts me every day
And you never bothered telling me
Why you took my girl away
When you chose to make me human
Did you know just what that means
Cause you made a heart that breaks too many ways
It seems

CH

So don’t blame me for gravity, don’t blame me for tragedy
Don’t blame me for whiskey when I make it to last call
Don’t blame me for drinking it, cause God, you know I need it
And most of all, sir, if you please
Don’t blame me
Don’t blame me when I fall

A unique song here, good job.
Just one small nit. I think the vocals may flow a little better with "cause God, you know I needed it"
Like I say, it's a nit.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

This is pretty good David! It grabbed me for sure.
That acoustic guitar you are playing sounds great as well, nice high frequencies, crystal clear sound.

Yeah, definitely one of your best songs so far I think.

The Blame Trilogy 66.66% done?
Well arranged and your parts stand out as the glue and highlights.

That is one of the better songs you've written. Personally, I'd remove the PC because it doesn't add and, it's only used once proving it's not needed.

Good song.

David,
An excellent confessional write with appropriately raw sounding vocal.
I really like the live unplugged feel your guitar gives the song.
Alt. country at its best!

David, very nice song. It has a lot of feeling coming through, and though I know it could have been done in a variety of ways, I think you chose just the right one. Loved how the guitar went from picking to strumming and how the bass and the cello came in. A very good write, IMO, a lot of folks have felt this way in their life at one point or another and this song gives a voice to those feelings. Great job.

It's a good song, I think it resonates with a lot of people because almost everyone who's a bit older (ahem) has been at that point asking those questions.

During my first listen I thought the verses were a bit too long, but with the second listen with the knowledge where the song goes it's obvious that they are just the right length.
And the chorus with the cello...goosebumps

"Cause you made a heart that breaks too many ways" is brilliant.
I think I have to blatantly steal that grin

A nice sensitive tune David. Quite a strong write with an excellent arrangement, production and performance. The vocals were really nice.

Super country

I liked everything about this one.

Two thumbs up.

The message is really easy to relate to, well not just few things and not just bit absurd... I really like how most of your songs have this "bigger than life" feeling. Funny and touching in a Monty Python way, definitely instant hit material with an excellent title and a catchy chorus. The arrangement, the mix and the vocals are all top quality.

This is an exceptional piece on songwriting. Your poignant lyrics pierce the heart. The production/arrangement is perfect.
