< This is a beautiful song. Love the sparse arrangement

Thanks, Bob. From the master of sparse arrangements, these are welcome words!

<beautiful lyrics. and emotion. Only idea was maybe double the vocs in parts of the song

I was thinking of you as I was editing this song. I thought, "Muso is gonna tell me the chorus needs doubling (or harmonies) and he'd be absolutely right." I was just being a cheap Charlie when I ordered the vocals. I have a Waves Doubler but it sounds robotic to me and I do not like it at all. Yet many people swear by it.

< A stripped down song reveals the true talent of the composer

Thanks, Al, I loved what you wrote above. If I had your mixing skills, the first version would have been good, too.

< Janice said she could imagine the original version at the beginning of a wonderful movie with the acoustic version played at the end of the movie as the credits roll by >

I couldn't ask for a better review! Reading this made my day! Thanks so much, Janice and Bud!

TM,
Great job, especially lyrically and vocally.
This could be an anthem for Ukraine.

"The howling beast will
Soon be put to rest
Your perseverance
Will have met the test"

I enjoyed both versions.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

< This is a great and beautiful tune...the chorus is really strong and effective! >

Thanks, Torrey! I was happy with the verse from the start but I kept trying with no success to write a better chorus. Sometimes with writing, I lose all perspective. So glad you like it!

Misha, I think that's a brilliant idea, I love it! Now I'm going to be up all night. ; )

Beautiful poignant song, both musically and lyrically.

I prefer the acoustic version.

The vocal is superb!

Bob,

This is a lovely arrangement of the song . . . and my, that vocal is so full and rich--outstanding. Like this version very much--agree it really puts the lyric (and vocal) front an center, which makes it very compelling and engaging. Wonderful!

All my best to you,

Deej

Lovely song. Acoustic was perfect for your tender vocal. I got a Josh Groban vibe too. Really well done...

You say you did a "quick acoustic version", but it clocks it at over 5 minutes with a slow... Oh, wait. wink

The sparse setting works nicely here. You've got a bit of a Rufus Wainwright vocal here.

Still an excellent song.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?
