Hello, forum friends

After a little blank, I would like to post my song again.
This song is written for the latest recording session of our music circle in this summer.

I would like to introduce you two versions, which are the live band version and the RealTrack version.
The RealTrack version was made for the vocalist to practice this song.
I usually prepare the karaoke version of the song made with BIAB in advance for vocalists.
Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Summary of lyrics:

While only pretending to be strong
I was still undecided
But I must have the courage to refuse
A helping hand which was given

The time we spent together is too long
I don't have the strength to jump over it
Only a bittersweet scent
Permeates into my heart

I love the light shining through the purple clouds
A voice that doesn't make a sound disappears into a white mist

When the spring wind blows
I am sure my confusion will clear up
The breeze brushes against my ears softly
My heart beats strongly inside me

The water from the melted snow just springs up white
Let's entrust my destiny to that strength

Bright young green leaves
Will dye the mountains in front of me
I'll leave my heart behind
In exchange for my departure

I listened to the instrumental first. I reminded me of the sort of song I'd hear at the end of a Miyazaki film - melancholic with some interesting shifts to the minor.

Very nice, but what a difference adding a vocal makes! Kiana does an awesome job laugh

The arrangement is great - it supports the vocal and stays out of the way of the vocal. There's an interplay between the vocals and the strings, but not enough to draw attention away from the vocal.

My only disappointment is the oboe - it sounds a bit more like a harmonica than an oboe. But I'm really picky when it comes to oboes!

I really like this! Excellent orchestration, beautiful melody, well sung. A real treat. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

You work at such a high level that it would be silly for me to offer any advice. I greatly enjoyed this, there were so many nice touches from start to finish. Singer is very good and even the lyrics show a lot of care. Thank you for sharing this terrific piece with us and thanks also for including the Realtracks version. Continued success to you.

David,

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
And many thanks for listening to the both versions.
I am really glad you like this tune, Kiana's vocal and my arrangement.

I really appreciate your detailed analysis and comments on my song.
This chord progression certainly appears in the Miyazaki film soundtrack.
Back in history, it has also been used in Aria"Magnificat"by G.P.Telemann, German composer in the Baroque period.

As for the tone of the oboe, I think the reason why it sounds like a harmonica is that the key is a little low for oboe in order to match the key of the vocalist.

I am always very encouraged by your kind words.

Best regards.

Lovely work. I love the "live" version. Your musician's circle is a very talented collective.
I only know Telleman for the da gamba transcribed to cello works...so somewhat loosely & heretic-ally compared to his original stuff.
The voice is wonderful as is the arrangement.
The BIAB version would've sounded fine had I not heard the Yamaha Circle.

Cheers

Shigeki Adachi,

Beautiful.

The strings have a wonderful movement. Very supportive of the vocal.
And a beautiful vocal, it is!

Mix is excellent.

This is a beautiful song with a great arrangement and some unexpected chords.

It shows that music easily crosses language barriers, I don't understand a single word, but I love the vocals.

I agree with David about the oboe, it needs a bit more body. But I wouldn't worry too much about it...

That is a tremendous composition, performance and mix.
Kiana's voice is wonderful. It and the strings carry the song so well.

Enjoyed it! (both of them)

Both versions are beautiful!
The instrumental version might be very well used for a movie.
And together with the vocal it is a very powerful song.

And many thanks for listening to the both versions.
I am really glad you like this tune, Kiana's vocal and the performance of Yamaha teachers.

It is true that the melody of this aria by Telemann is very close to pop music, and I also think it is a bit light, but I really like the song.

I am always very encouraged by your kind words.
