Guitar Pro 8

I kept up with Guitar Pro upgrades until ver. 5. It's a very good program. I saw where they'd came out with ver. 8 and just wondered if anyone here had tried it. ???

GP8: Indeed the sound is very good with RSE.
"Great novelty of this version 8, the audio track now allows you to mix the audio engine of the software with any audio file. This allows you to mix a drum backing track to MP3 with the acoustic guitar sound of Guitar Pro 8's RSE (Realistic Sound Engine)."

It has 1 major drawback that is a deal breaker for me.

It will not open any TablEdit files created with TablEdit version 3x.

Version 2x files open just fine.

They don't tell you that, there is nothing in the user manual about it and I cannot find any mention of it on their website.

Even though I have TablEdit ver 3X I've never used TablEdit to create files but only to play them. I've always used Guitar Pro to create Tab and sheet music. I have hundreds if not thousands of tab's in TablEdit format so they should all work fine with Guitar Pro 8 as long as it does open the old files.

Did you try it out with BIAB? They used to play nicely together in the past.

Bob: I cannot say that BIAB works with Guitar Pro 8 since my friend does not have BIAB yet, trying to convince him to get it, and I don't have Guitar Pro. Sorry but I will leave that answer for someone else.

Hello!
I can't figure out why quarter rests appear under or above the staff. When I record a melody with three voices (3/4), the following picture appears:

Please tell me how I can fix this?

I am not sure, but I think the quarter rest belongs to the voicing holding the quarter notes just to make them start on the second beat as indicated.
You can check by selecting the voicing with the quarter notes.
If that voicing starts with the quarter rest then it is just to delete it, but that will also move the quarter notes so they start on beat 1 (only my guess).

That's certainly as I would expect it, though I'm slightly puzzled by stated three voices, but four notes playing simultaneously. Generally I would expect one note per voice, otherwise it gets very unclear which voice should be which.
